This thread has long moved on since then. 50ms pings without dedi-servers, and all you have to do is click join. It really isn't a bad system, certainly a lot better than server lists that say a server has open slots, you click join and then it says it is full. You always get full servers too as when someone leaves, someone else is put in the game.

I see nothing there at all to show cheating. The guy is prone i expect to take out people coming from the far end. The 1st kill is close proximity so spray will do. When he turns round he shoots the wall 1st before hitting the guy! And their could be a number of reasons why he turned when he did. The obvious one is he knows he is in a vulnerable position and so simply checked once the target ahead was down. He could also be using decent sound so could hear him coming (good sounds makes a massive difference) Or he could be using UAV/heartbeat.

Seriously I am closing in on prestigue and have seen no definite hackers, and only a few that imo seem a bit suspicious, but not so bad that i am definite they cheat. The biggest problem with this game re cheats is that people are not being reassured by the lacklustre iwnet system so if someone validly gets a lucky run or they are just that much better and people assume they are cheating. 40 hours online in MP and i have not seen 1 definite cheat. Assume that people are not cheating (they probably arn't) until proven otherwise and your enjoyment will be much higher!

Sorry pal, but you're an idiot. His crosshair moves too quickly and too definitely towards a head to not be cheating - classic sign of aimbotting. Perhaps if you watched it again you'd agree the guys hacks. I have seen this kind of work from CS 1.3 - unfortunately.

Hackers exist. If you haven't seen them then you are either extremely lucky or too stupid to see them. I am going with the latter
 
It's a shame you've dismissed it without trying it, PapaLazaru. I was as sceptical as you were but iwnet works quite well. You're missing out, go on, give it a go.

Thats putting it a bit strong... if I didn't have more than 10 years experience of spotting them I probably wouldn't have picked up on it from that video.

The number of people in denial about cheating does annoy me tho... as someone with 10 years of competitive fps experience I'm not just calling someone a cheater coz they happen to get a couple of good frags... cheating is very real and a lot more common than people think.
 
Yes I agree but watch the video again. Blatent movements to heads. A good player is a good player and yes, they can get called a haxor but they can be annoying. It was the denial of hacking that did my nut in. I played against two clan members who were throwing nades when I was crawling, shooting me through walls before I came around and then denying it.

Hackers usually play Hardcore TDM because there is no kill cam
 
I think punkbuster is even worse than VAC for catching cheats, I think they both have to come a long way and need to be updated quickly when new cheats are released.

I wouldn't count on it. IW have made it abundantly clear that all they're interested in nowadays is money, and lots of it :(
I'll eat my hat if it has so much as a fiver off. In fact, I'll set up a factory that manufactures hats and position myself right at the end of the production line conveyor belt with a knife and fork.
 
Its activision really thats pushing the money thing... they've changed a lot recently... theres a reason id software have gone from being very cosy with them to running as far away as possible.

Yeah, there are niggles, and choosing to play with a precise gun like the famas is akin to shooting yourself in the foot if you're not getting a low ping, but it does work quite well. I don't know how they've done it, (lag compensation and big kill boxes?) but they have managed to make a p2p online shooter work on the pc.

This - its what i use - my headphones are a bit ghetto but the XFI is great in games.
