Ideas to make my company better "wow" customers

I think 3 things are key in this market

1 - reliability
2 - price
3 - capability (mostly comodotised)

The importance of each will vary based upon your business/needs etc. It sounds like you already do most of the above, so concentrate on how you promote that fact.

thanks the idea that came out of this is to look at other hosting companies to see what they offer/do

Just look at: http://www.squarespace.com/ vs http://www.justhost.com/ for example.

One looks professional and not cheap the other looks like tat (and even tries to bug you when you close the page)

Oh and my host is justhost not squarespace! Probably moving to SS once traffic increases though.

Just host may be junk, but due to their marketing/affiliate marketing, they're actually one of the fastest growing hosting providers around.

In any case, Squarespace are a customer of Rackspace/Mosso IIRC... they've got a very cool product from what i've seen though, so they're almost competing on their own.

#Okay question

1. Just Host gives you your own free domain name for life with our Just Plan and 3 free with our Premium Plan! There's no need to panic about renewing your domain as Just Host will automatically do this for you to ensure you never lose the all important identity of your site.

now can someone explain what that really means?

is it just the name of the website such as google.com?

What is the process behind getting that for life created?
why would clients like the look of that idea?
My point is what benefit can it offer my company?

You work for a web hosting company and aren't sure what a domain name is?

Holy sheeeeeeeeeeeeee......

Kidding right?

well I am fairly sure because my answer was right :_)

but I don't understand the business implications

If I had a hosting company, I would want my staff to me more than fairly sure what a domain name is, and I would certainly want them to understand the business implications of offering something for 'free'.

You are fairly sure? you should be 100% sure... you are selling the flipping product!

I honesly don't get this, when you say you work for a web hosting company, are you a receptionist or something?

well guys some of you might be surprised but not all of us enjoy learning about DNS!

anyway so what?
why are you all moaning and bit ching about it?

I work in sales so what is most important is how much business I can get in not my IT knowledge.

RackSpace I believe. I was using SquareSpace as an example of how cut price, cheap looking is not always the best option. Especially if you want to stand out in the crowd.

You sell hosting and you don't know what a domain name is? You work in sales and you don't understand the business implications on offering a service element for 'free'?

yes and no

Obviously offer it free to entice customers into hosting here. But further more my mind doesn't think
