It's snowing

Meanwhile down South the forecast for Friday, which was due to be extremely heavy snow has changed, literally overnight, to 'Sunny' :(

I don't believe any of you. You lie. You all lie.

I haven't seen any snow yet. And on the 30th/31st I went on a 590 mile drive including Staffordshire, Manchester, West Yorkshire, Huntingdon, Hertford, North and South London. I saw some white stuff on distant hills and that was all.

Bring it on.

Where is everyone buying sledges from? We went hunting around the retail parks and supermarkets for them yesterday but couldn't find a damn thing!

Just want a cheap sledge :(

Toys R Us sell them, however I think they are like gold dust, they even sell the lids of sandpits at this time of year.:p

Even worse. :(

You drove through areas that had snow after you were there (staffs, yorks etc) and areas that had already lost snow before you get here (herts, london) :p

This is the sort of winter I remember from when I was young (temps at least), and I was only born in the 80's! Having said that there was less cold days but colder nights, I remember regularly having really hard frosts (putting cloth on the windscreen about half the nights between December and Feb), recently we haven't had that, and we very rarely get nights colder than -5 now whereas we would usually get a few nights of around -10.

The BBC did seem to jump the gun again, it will be cold and there will be widespread snow. But not crazy like on that forecast.

Then again I think the BBC might be censoring/dumbing down their forecast for now to prevent some minor panic. Wednesday onwards they forecast hardly any snow, that does not match either the Met Office or other services like Met Check.

That forecast for Friday has changed. Unfortunetly forecasts that long (5 days) are not very accurate at all.
They're now forecasting heavy snow of up to 25cm in the south but they're saying it could move east slightly and hit London/SE.
They keep changing the forecast every few hours at the moment... :(
The truth is nobody knows right now for sure, just keep watching the radar. :)

Metcheck is forecasting a little on Wednesday and then a little on Friday for me (Herts), less than the BBC is forecasting.

Metcheck reckons it is going to snow all day here tomorrow. Metcheck has been wrong about snow here every time I've checked this winter, so not got much faith in them now.

Icicles from my bedroom window yesterday.
