Mum bought a cloned car, anything we can do?

So its taken over a month for the lazy police farce to get around to actually arresting him even though you had his address and picture of him? Wow, I wonder how they found the time from whatever they find more important to do.

You know that police have to do more than just arresting people? Apparently they have to investigate crimes too! Madness!

Probably nobody to harass for going over the speed limit.

Give it a rest

They can't arrest first given such evidence and then investigate? What did they have to investigate that takes a month?

Give it a rest

Why? Justify what took them so long? My comment was tongue in cheek, but it is totally ridiculous taking a month to investigate something so clear cut. The criminal could easily have moved in this time, how much longer would it have taken then?

I do hope you never need the police in a hurry, its people like you defending the indefensible that gives incompetent the ammunition to get away with slacking.

I'll have to assume not! Maybe they had to get an inspection done on the vehicle which could take a week? Maybe they were linking it to other people who have reported the same thing, and then needed to inspect their vehicles. Do you really expect them to just go round there and say "yeh, you're under arrest for cloning some cars. Unfortunately, i don't know how many car's you have cloned or the names of people you have scammed, or the amount of money you have taken off them because i haven't bothered to investigate the crime before i have come to nick you"

Your comments were tongue in cheek? Why are you arguing with me then?

True, the criminal could have moved out. But suppose the police went around straight away, nicked him without investigating first, and the case fell through. The criminal might then have moved away because he know's the police are onto him.

I have needed the police in a hurry a few times and they've come as quickly as can be reasonably expected. However, i have the wit to see that 99% of the time it isn't the police officers slacking, it's the fact that they are quickly becoming desk bound by the hours and hours of paper work involved with every arrest. I'm sure Von et al will love the fact that you accuse them of slacking though.

It is quite clear you don't have a clue about what a police officer has to do and what they have to put up with due to stupid government decisions and middle management beaurocracy.

I think you need to brush up on how a protracted investigation is run.

As for clear cut, how do you know this ? He admitted to cloning 5 cars but would you take that as read or would you look deeper into it ?

Car cloning investigations are rarely clear cut and invariably take time and perhaps the fella was on his toes before the cops caught up with him or simply wasn't in at his home address when they tried previously ?

There are numerous reasons why it takes time and laziness is not usually one of them

I don't grasp what happened, other than you lost 22,500 / 26grand in some form of currency. Please redo these posts in legible and coherent English.

Thanks. :)

In all seriousness, you've repeated yourself 3 times...I think (I honestly don't understand the 2nd two posts) which is very confusing. Not a nice situation to be in though I must admit.

You honestly had £22,500 to spend on a car?

Could you please give me some of the reasons it would take 30 days for them to investigate apart from they called and he was not in ?

Serious question as I'm not very familiar with law regarding cloning.

Thx jay.

I take it you are in Sunderland. Anything to do with Harkers removals?
