Bald Tyre

A common mistake; an MOT in no way tells you the road-worthiness of a car other than at the actual time of the test. How would you drive to a pre-booked MOT test if your MOT had expired?

I know this, bad English if anything. I should have used e.g. as opposed to i.e. Having a valid MOT and a bald tyre would still get you a smacked bottom.

People that let tyres go bald need to be taken outside and shot. So many people do it round here, they're completely oblivious.

Dad has been up the road from the garage to a taxi who wanted help getting his spare wheel on. The flat was down to the chords and had blown out. The driver said he needed to get back on his way quickly to get the passenger to their destination. While on the ground he saw the tire on the other side was also down to the chords. "I'll get it sorted when I've dropped the passenger off." "I'm not helping you put this spare on with that tire like that." "What? This car is my livelihood, who are you to take me off the road."

The taxi drivers all pull that line when their car fails it's 6 monthly MOT and taxi test, especially when the car fails for being smelly/dirty. This driver eventually managed to change the wheel himself. Dad reported him to the council.
