Well we have had easily 3" or more, may be more like 5" in Salford. Its going to be complete chaos in a couple of hours as its coming down really thick!

Im in newton heath and its almost 5 inches of new snow now, on top of the ice and frozen snow from yesterday. Driving is already almost impossible on the side streets now. Im supposed to be going to macclesfield today, not even going to bother. Its still coming down in BIG flakes right now.

edit: The gf left for work ( in st helens... shes a teacher ) about 30mins ago and shes phoned to say she coming back. She has a little new style micra and all week shes been fine but she said its just getting silly now... no gritting has been done even on the east lancs.

Well our heavy duty gazebo just collapsed with 2 motorbike underneath with the weight of the snow. Easily over 6 inches now! Got a couple of pictures half an hour ago;

And its still coming down REALLY heavily, another inch in the last half an hour - I've NEVER seen snow like this!!

Manchester is going to grind to a halt today, that is an absolute certainty!

I'm suppose to be driving into work at 8.30am for a 9am start. I was thinking about setting off at 8am just to be safe, but there is no 'safe' driving a 3 litre RWD car in this weather lol it's asking for trouble. I'm still deciding whether I should bother, I've never seen this much snow in my life tbh.

I wonder if I'll be able to get to college tomoz, I'm in Manchester and it looks around 8" now! I've heard people saying I've never seen anything like this. There is no cars in the Co-op car park too, cars have been getting stuck too.

I need to get 3 miles to college tomoz, snow might be deeper tomoz too, I'm worried if I don't go in I'll get behind with work but I don't know if my tutor will be in with this.

Live in Sale, there is loads of snow! And Barton Bridge is closed. So it is going to be horrific driving to work today. I haven't even thought about setting off yet.

Edit: Weather reports suggest as much as a further 10 inches could fall.....!!!

Just got up for work and looked out the window, bloody hell, covered in show here, and to get to work I need to drive uphill on a pretty much unused road :(

u wouldnt believe how gutted i am that there is no snow were i am
and to make mattrs worse my bro just txt me to say the school he teaches in warrington is closed coz of snow and snow in warrington !!!

I am not exaggerating here but I really haven't seen anything like this before. It looks almost 8-10 inches deep here, AND ITS STARTED SNOWING AGAIN!!!

I have so far seen 3 ppl in the street try in vain to actually move their car. One managed to get out of his parking space barely but that was as far as he got.

Time to build a snowman today because nothing else is getting done in Manchester. :p

I'm in Cotehill near Carlisle and we had about 2 inches. Just being listening to the radio and daughters school is closed. I can not understand why it is closed. The roads are easily passible and the school itself is about 100 yards of the main a69 which surely to god is a priority road for gritting.

Even if it seems as though I could get to work, it would take me ages to get home again because there is about 5 icnhes of further snow expected!! Not worth it.

Man forget about work and have fun, go out and build an awesome snowman, have a snowball fight with your other half, take the kids out sledging etc, I'll always have treasured memory's of playing in the snow with my friends and family, enjoy it while it's here.

yup we got a good centimeter here in bideford north devon lol

but thats it!!

fingers crossed it'll reach here a bit later on then, cheers.

Ok so we had 6-8inches of snow here in Bolton last night, couldnt get my car out of my driveway and local roads have not been gritted..
