Hi Guys,

So i'm getting rid of my DELL Ultrasharp 2408WFP-HC 24" which suffers from input lag and i'm in the market for a new 24" screen - budget around £250.

I've heard a few people talking about 120Hz screens - are more of these going to be available soon? or can anyone recommend a current screen? I mainly do web design / gaming. Ideally i'd like to stick to 1900 * 1200 resolution.

thanks

Dan.

Its quite funny how these sceens seem to have been designed to push 3D out, when the co-incidental "genuine 120hz" is what is very appearing to a lot of people :D

My gf has a dell 2407wfp and the input lag is nothing short of horrific on fps games, fact! A really good all-rounder in every other way though, i'd have to say.

The general feeling is that soon there won't be any 1920x1200 screens left even available to buy as all the firms are moving towards 24" 1920x1080.

Theres an acer 120hz 24" 1920x1080 coming out very soon for about £300 (its already on preorder) that has to be worth looking at but i wouldn't like to buy blind myself incase it has any noticable input lag. I have a feeling asus are bringing one out too but other than that i don't know of any more in the pipeline....

You should note that in order to make use of the screen you'll need the hardware to keep up 120fps in whatever games you play.

Is it possible to use a 120Hz screen with an ati card if you simply want the refresh rate and are not at all bothered about the 3D features? as i believe there are problems with ATI cards and these screens but is it simply the 3D function?

You'd be absolutely bonkers to get one of them 2 over the acer 120hz if you actually have any interest in FPS games at all.

The acer 120hz one is out within a week i think! not a long wait tbh..

I couldn't do it on my 5870 which i had, but i could do it on an old x1950xt.

Not sure on the ones inbetween....

you would be fine with an ati card @ 120hz unless it was the 5 series which have a problem.

the 3d feature is nvidia only....their card, their drivers, their glasses.

dont know what the new 1920 res 120hz monitor is like as its not out but im guessing its a tn panel like the other 2 1680*1050 monitors.....not sure if it would be an issue for your work but they are great for games.

Who wants 3d anyway, not me.. i just want a good qual monitor without all the extra bits cos that just pushes the quality down on the build

So is it better going for a screen with a res of 1900x1080, cos I would like a nice 27" sometime this yr? I would go bigger but the res increases.
