Ok, I am building a computer for a friend soon, and I have decided on everything except the power supply (and graphics sort of). Here is the current component list:
DFI Lanparty DK P45-T2RS Plus
Q8400 (maby 9400)
AC Freezer 7 Pro V2
Corsair TwinX XMS2 2x2GB
Samsung F3 7200RPM 500GB
I am putting a 7900GT in it until nVidia properly announce what is going on with them and some benchmarks surface - at which point it will be either a 5870 or one of the fairly-high-end nVidia ones; it all depends on the cost-performance we can squeeze out of it, as ATI cards will probably drop in price a bit.
I am also planning on a reasonable overclock, to 3.4GHz or thereabouts. I am quite unsure of the wattage required, I was thinking 550W if it is a good quality PSU, like a Corsair TX - but If I can shave the price down by £25 or something by choosing more sensibly that would be good.
Any particular suggestions?
My current system has a Corsair TX 750W, and it is probably only using 50% of that... I am guessing it is still overkill when I upgrade my graphics too (but hey, it was £75 when I got it).
