ok, I can't stand it any more.

I'm giving in and getting a 5850 today rather than waiting a month or two. I can scrape the extra cash together now (just don't want to!!!) however I might not have the spare cash at all in a few months time when the cards are available at a decent price!!!

So it's VTX @ £227 or Saphire for £234?
(plus delivery...ggrrr).

I'm guessing that they are identical - any opinions?

Thanks
DAn

VTX is Powercolor I believe, and personally i'd get the Sapphire as i've had trouble with Powercolor RMA in the past.

At the end of the day though, they're all the same card and you're just as likely to have a problem with any company.

what he said, except i've not had problems with power color cards but i've heard others have and i've avoided them lol

......... Same badge, different stickers, boxes & warrenties. And possibly a different BIOS too.

I'd avoid - personal experience with RMA process - Powecolour & therefore VTX - if it ever goes wrong, £5 difference is not a lot is it?.

+1 for the Sapphire mate. Like people have said, just different stickers, boxes and warrenty's. Although, people say Powercolour use cheaper capacitors than other brands.

Ordered - Thanks all. :)

(ps- I feel strangely guilty & ever so slightly naughty for giving in...a bit like opening xmas presents on the 21st dec!)

The guilt will pass as soon as you fire it up :) I got mine in last night (a powercolor card) and its an awesome peice of kit.

+1. Encounterd PowerColor 4890. Died in 2 weeks :D
Changed to Sapphire - 0 problems!
How much better are they than my 280gtx, is there a big difference?
5850 has less power consumption, it is cooler, faster and supports DX11. Also, it overclocks better.
However, in my opinion, if your 280 satisfies you - don't change it, the difference is not really big.

.............. Get over it - now it is the 24+ December - and you should feel like a God to those people that bought those measly VTX/Power colour pieces......

Powecolor have been lsated on multiple forums for their Eu RMA's.

I'd go with whichever has the longest warranty so I believe thats the standard 2 year other than Asus and I recently found out Gigabyte too.
