Iphone apps

Well it is designed for thumbing around, I noticed it has a battery and signal indicator, just like an iPhone :(

Looks more like Symbian UIQ to me ;)

THe layout of the iphone is a nice rip off of S60, just with touch screen support, there is little the iphone brought new to the table, they just simplified and made it a lot more accessible

But i don't think it offers anything above and beyond WM other than ease of use. If you've lived with WM for so long the ease of use is just the same.

I support both and the iPhone is much nicer to use, I've been a long term user of windows mobile and nowadays it just frustrates me going back to it.

Also remember, it's not just about knowing how to do something- it's about how you do it.

You could make a similar argument about Blackberrys. They can't run native 3rd party apps so they're not smartphones.

The lines are blurred. I can't wait for the day when everyone goes back to calling the device in their pocket "a phone" and nothing else.

Really?? and here i thought u knew your stuff but it seems you havent...of course BB's can run 3rd party apps...ive got over 20 of them running on both my Bb's and they run flawlessly...unless your talking about something different but i can run most apps that the iphone runs if its available.

BB apps are all based on Java. They're not native. That limits their performance and complexity.

I exercised choice, i chose an Iphone, you can too.

And technically it is inferior to many phones, however it offers the best usability, web browsing and interface of any phone i've ever used.

thats like my grandma saying fiat pandas are the best car ever because its the best car that shes ever used

screen res on the iphone is too low to offer the best web browsing.

usability and easyness seem like pointless features for someone whos a member of a computer overclocking forum. i mean why dont we all just use stock clocked dells. the usability is great

All the people at uni have got blackberries, in fact a few of my mates are dropping their iphones for them now. Once the novelty wears off you just want a phone that is a phone, that you can txt from, can surf the net on and check facebook/play a few simple games/tasks etc.

can you not do that on the iphone?

ah right, didnt know. i thought you could do all sorts with em.

You can do all those on an iPhone, so not sure what he's on about

The iPhone Facebook application is very good, I've not seen the Facebook app for Android but my house mates Nokia (E71 I think, has a keypad on it) uses a web application and he has to scroll around on it using the key pad directional buttons. Very cumbersome.

The iPhone can now do MMS and gaming is probably the iPhones best forte....

Love this thread, full of people putting the iPhone down yet don't even know what they're talking about.

why ? its a tiny bit easier to use than other smartphones. so what

its not like other smart phone are hard to use
I was referring to your point that being subscribed to a computer overclocking forum means theres no requirement for such subscribers to have the need of usability and 'easyness' of a tech product...

As I said - its a stupid point/inference - irrelevant to the thread discussion

ps3ud0

he knows exactly what hes talking about. he is talking about multitasking. in all fairness if the 3gs had a flash and multitasking i would probably own one.(mainly due to ease of use with my macbook) but it doesnt and they are massive massive things missing from a trendy smartphone imo

What does being a member of OcUK have to do with phones? I've been a member for over 5 years now and my buying habits have changed.

I no longer buy the latest and greatest hardware and this has also passed over onto my phone for the first time ever.

I have something that works well for ME, there's no feature that I'm desperately wanting that the iPhone doesn't provide. It's like the compass feature on the 3GS coupled with the overlay apps that use the camera.

Yeah that's a nice idea, but offers nothing I critically want.

i just find it funny that the most common 'pro' for the iphone on this forum seems to be 'usability' when in most cases people here usually coudlnt care less about that kind of thing

Of course they care about usability, who wouldn't?

Here's an example a lot of people on here are looking for on phones that I've seen:

Phones that have a big, high resolution screen but has a pull out QWERT keyboard so that the big high resolution screen is actually used for looking at rather than for displaying a touch screen keyboard that takes up majority of the screen.

That's why a lot of people like the new Motorola Droid Phone.

That's a usability feature surely?
