what would the difference be cpu heat wise?

my titan goliath which was running at 90c with small fft before it got rma'd and i was told it now runs 71c for 24 hours using the blend test at 3.40ghz

corsair h50 with i7 920 DO

more than likely, depending on the CPU and cooling

QQ , its the 4th time ive rma'd this titan goliath to ocuk. it was running at 90 like i said now its gonna run at about 81c if it runs at 71c with blend test.

at only 3.40ghz with a corsair h50 thats about 10c over the average with that cpu cooler

god this has been a nightmare, if its running that hot when i receive it im just gonna get a refund

Thanks pneumonic

The above posts are good. I took an average of 6 to 10*C off my temps by sorting my case out (in i5 overclocking build).

90*C is hot man! The H50 should be working a bit better than that, IMO. What fan setup is running there? If your room hot?

Also, check your VCore - I took a few degrees off by making this more efficient - backing it off step by step and running tests.

I hope you get some luck matey!

Either the H50 is knackered/poorly installed, or you've been unlucky with the chip. Some of them are "leaky", drawing far higher currents than the norm at the same voltage. They run hot, but tend to overclock about the same as normal ones under sufficient cooling.

What were the other rmas for? The i7 is considered good up to 100 or so, though it's a nightmare trying to find out where this figure came from. I'm inclined to think if it's stable, it's fine, but I'd be gutted if I had a chip that was rendered unstable by temperatures when around 3.6.
