Nokia N900

Right, so they have this new OS... yet they've gone and used the same outdated icons and Symbian fonts...

Nokia need to learn quick else they're going to lose more market share than they already have.

You could be totally radical and change the overall system font and icon set yourself.

The icons are representatve of the function and they work...what's the issue? A lot of the 3rd party apps have different ones but why re-design for the sake of it.

In other news... this week I have been mostly playing....Duke Nukem 3D! Takes a little getting used to using the accelerometer to move, sttylus aim and 'F' to fire but is still pleasing :D

I am going to wait for the O2 release they have a better 3g network and from what I read a better customer service department, also there fair use is uncapped for iphone so they might do something alone the same lines for the N900. I wouldn't say I am a real heavy user but between work stuff and the commute 500MB is just too small on an internet based phone and data rates are steep.

Don't see why they would do that, it's very stable even with adding stupid repositories and experimental software. MMS support I suppose, maybe some portrait use as well?

I do agree that the icons look outdated. im sure its a very nice phone apart from that though.

One thing that's impressed me a lot with this phone is the music player. The clarity of the sounds this thing produces is nothing short of amasing.

When i first took the headphones out the box i took one look at them and tossed them aside as they look quite cheaply made. When i tried them just now, Jesus Christ they're awesome! Anyone looking for a phone for listening to music with, get this.

the bugs need ironing out - ie battery, speed issues at times, MMS, portrait mode, camera and general tightening up.

Battery and MMS I agree with but as discussed through this thread, phones like this eat battery so unlikely that will improve massively. MMS support would be nice I admit.

Not had any real speed issues, occsional lag at typing of a few words that catches up in a second or two. Portrait mode - meh, suppose it would be nice. Camera is fine for me but night shots could improve. Overall, you could wait forever for Nokia to pull their fingers out but it is the most rounded device they offer and the best competition for the iphone and nexus.

Is there still no portrait mode ?? :(

No, but it really isn't an issue. The phone part is portrait, but web browsing is better landscape anyway. Honestly, I don't miss portrait at all.
