Citroen C2 VTS

Fab VRS sounds like it would be more suitable to your driving style yes, it will feel faster no doubt too. great lil' eco runner. sounds like you made the right decision :)

Hogwash, it is a hot hatch for younger drivers who cannot afford huge insurance. Sure it is only mildly hot, Madras to a Saxo's Vindaloo, but it is a hot hatch nevertheless.

Er I'm sorry but with your statement it only goes to prove that this is more akin to a Saxo VTR than the VTS :)

The Saxo VTR was a hot hatch for younger drivers who coudn't afford the huge insruance costs of the VTS at the time. It was mildly hot, madras to the Saxo VTS' Vindaloo.

Now I love my French hatches (never had any build quality issues with them), I've had 2, mother has had 2, wife had 1, but I would never ever buy one of these I'm afraid.

But they already do a lower power VTR model

So what? Doesn't stop the current VTS being more akin to the Saxo VTR

The C2 VTS is the hottest of the C2 range, hence VTS, like the Saxo VTS was the hottest of the Saxo range.

There is no Akin to the Saxo anymore, as nanny state regs mean we all have to put up with far more weight in the name of safety.

You are trying to compare a 10 odd year old car. Citroen went out on a limb and came up with a low insurance hot hatch which will appeal to some younger drivers. Sure, I wouldn't buy one at 45 either, but if I was 19 I would consider it.

If you really want to compare, the Saxo VTS had what 120bhp stock? vtr about 90bhp, this has 125bhp and the vtr about 110bhp. If it wasnt for the extra safety features, part of what gives it its low insurance rating and higher NCAP rating, it would be a better power to weight as well.

We can say the same about most modern cars, they are getting heavier, just compare the incarnations of Golf GTI's for example.

As fox says, doesn't matter, everyone here is comparing the C2 to the Saxo so why can't I? :)

Just because the model deisgnation is the same, does not mean they are the same. Just look at the mk4 Golf 2.0 GTi to prove that point.

The C2 VTR (well I should say the GT as the VTR has that auto box thing) was nearer to the C2 VTS than the Saxo VTR was to the Saxo VTS imho.

The C2 VTS is the hottest of the C2 range, hence VTS, like the Saxo VTS was the hottest of the Saxo range.

And you've already said that whilst being the hottest in the C2 range it's been designed for lower ins for younger drivers etc, which is exactly what the Saxo VTR was. The Saxo VTS was not, it was a grp 14 nightmare to insure for young drivers when it came out.

I can see there is not getting through so will have to agree to disagree.

As I've said I love my little french hatches and I quite like the C2, just wouldn't have one.

I don't understand this business model, how many new drivers out there can afford brand new cars at 17-19 years old, and out of them how many can only do it because there parents are purchasing the car for them, and out of them how many parents are going to be happy with the idea of there kid driving round in a chavved up Citroen that is supposed to be a hot hatch.

lots. hence why they sold well and will continue to do so in the future generations. cheap insurance deals and affordable prices will always offset the competition.
