But it's great news that Andy's opps sorry Anjem Choudary site has gone for good ;)

Just got to get him off the streets now which I think won't be long.

EDIT

"Mr Choudary, a father of three, admitted he lived off benefits despite objecting to the British state.
He rejected suggestions of hypocrisy, saying: “I don't think it's of any importance.”

What scum bag.

Total swing and miss. They've just victimised them by banning them, the same kind of thing the BNP always leap on whenever anyone starts trying to silence them...

I dont agree with these dudes on anything , but I will fight until my last breath to allow
them the freedom to say what ever retarded thoughts run through their tiny brains

Banning them reminds me of the dark days of the troubles were Republican politicians
were not allowed to have a voice on tv etc , ...... so they had the words read by someone
else while video footage showed Gerry Adams talking , it was totally retarded.

Banning this group is the wrong way to go , better to leave them
and extract the urine from them at every opportunity

First of all why are they living in this country? to have a better live or just milking from from us hard working taxpayers? not happy with this country then return back where ever they came from. These people just got too much free time on their hand.

"ask not what your country can do for you - ask what you can do for your country.
" said John F. Kennedy.

I don't know anything about them, do they actually sponsor or encourage terrorism? Or is this another abuse of anti-terror laws?

The march could have been banned by the police, it would clearly have caused a breach of the peace.

Driving taxi's and making curry more then likely :)

Before you send them back, please, consider what you're doing to my Friday night :(

Banning them will not make them go away. They will still be leeching off this country whilst plotting their seditious activities.

It's a weak response from a weak government.

This.

Although I also find this interesting which no one has commented on

"It is already proscribed under two other names - al-Ghurabaa and The Saved Sect.

So it's already been banned twice?

Agreed, many people disagreed with Mandatory National service in the recent poll on here yet I bet those same people agree with this banning,

Eh? What exactly is the link between the two? I disagree with mandatory national service and I also disagree with the banning of this group for pretty much the same reason, personal freedom. Both of those policies would have a negative impact on personal freedom for no real positive gain.

Then what are you getting worked up about then ?

My problem is with people that are against 1 one thing that they deem as having a negative impact in personal freedom (National Service) but yet agree with this banning, that isn't you.

here is the BBC's description of the legislation

Under the Terrorism Act 2000, a group can be banned if it "commits or participates in acts of terrorism, prepares for, promotes or encourages terrorism or is otherwise concerned in terrorism".

Groups can also be outlawed if they "unlawfully glorify the commission or preparation of acts of terrorism".

I'm sorry but that sounds incredibly vague.

Hate speech is illegal, yo.

Organisations that practise and promote hate speech can be banned.

Free speech? Sure, if you like. Freedom from consequences? No. That has never existed and never will.

Another nail in the coffin of freedom of protest/speech and a further abuse of terrrorism laws by the state.

I don't agree with where the group chose to protest but I would defend their right to do it.

Nope. Do you know them other than their planned basset march?

They praised the attacks on London, amongst other things.

The leader of this group is decrying this as a failure of democracy and free speech. Both of which he has said time and time again he wants abolished. Don't listen to anything they have to say, it's all just designed to stir things up.

I don't think the organisation should have been banned. Proscribing should only be for terrorist organisations.

I also would have liked to give Islam4UK full rights to free speech, because every time they open their mouths, it increases anti-Muslim sentiment in this country. Give them enough rope I say.

What does freedom of speech encompass, surely if they have a right to rant on a website (which I think they do) they also have a right to march, (something I didn't want to see happen). Isn't freedom opf speech the right to give your views however you like as long as its peacefully.

They don't give their views peacefully though - it's done in a manner clearly intended to incite trouble. A website requires that you visit that specific website. Picketing funerals and marches is altogether different.

And that's exactly what they want.

Edit: I should point out I don't agree with the organisation being banned though. But they merely exist to create tension between muslims and non muslims and people play into their hands so easily.

I thought they said they weren't going to protest at the same time as the funerals and marches, but separately.
