I was lucky to get a 5850 for under £200 and sell my gtx260 for £100 but for the same money I could have had two gtx260 in SLI albeit wothout dx11.

Hmmmm, that must be a very selective choice of games as I had plenty which wouldn't run at that res with AA above 60fps even with my gtx260 216sp overclocked to 930/1612 which way outperforms a gtx285, never mind a gtx280.
But Hey Ho, if you only play games which run fine on your hardware, that's all that counts.
I would have expected reviews to be flying out of the door by now, we need more than pictures of a hefty fella thumbs upping.

Agreed. However the full specs including core and memory speeds were leaked 3 months before the 5870 release. With the Fermi being two months to go, surprising there is not more info (unless it's bad news) or the other alternative is that they are doing what ATI did with the 4870 and come launch date they will shock the world with a 512SP Fermi running at 1000Mhz core and 1900 shaders for less money than a 5870.
Same here, been very happy with my 280 up until it started to die, have it sent off for rma and im hoping they send me another 280 to replace it, i fancy going the sli route myself as 280's can be picked up fairly cheap. If they send me a 285 gtx id actually be a bit gutted as sli with the current price of another 285 would be far to expensive.
Wow, that's quite a hefty o/c mate, I can't get my current 280 past 760MHz on the core without getting artifacts.
Was this a 55nm 260 or 65nm?
Who was the manufacturer of your 280?
I'm really looking forward to receiving my new one for some SLi action, the last time I had an SLi system was with a pair of 6600GT's, I imagine a pair of 280's will fly in all the games I play.

Not compared them against the 285 - but stock (they are gigabyte SoC cards) they are 3-7% quicker than the 275 and I've got more than 10% on top of that overclock.
930 or 730? most 260 cards on air top out around 730 tho 930 is perfectly possible with most if you can cool them enough (probably around 10C load temps tho).
Card is an xfx gtx280 xt 640mhz core factory oc model.

I have had 2x280s in sli,i know have 2xgtx295 in sli,i can confirm that both of thse gpus DO NOT have stutter.
althrough I would love to go back to a single card (can't due to money) i can see this maybe what I waiting for or not as the only raeson why I m waiting for this is so it makes ATI more honest
