Commuter cat hit by a car

I doubt they would feel anything other than a small bump tb, especially in a big car

No if it doesn't know any better you keep it away from the road until it is old enough to distinguish danger...

My neighbor takes hers to a main road on a loose leesh, when the cars are coming stops them running across until it learns

'you tit'
Your neighbour puts her cat on a leash? Lol, she's a tit, too.

Cats aren't dogs, you shouldn't try and teach them things because if they don't want to they won't pay any attention.

Taking cats for a walk is hilarious!

they wait at a main road until it is quiet and then cross as far as i understand it, cat's on quiet roads have no idea of the danger because they never experience cars going back and forth all the time

Right or wrong her cats don't get run over so she is obviously doing something right..

I thougth it was only dogs and horses you had to report about hitting in your car.

And technically me calling you a ****er isn't illegal, but would you like it if i did?
It isn't courteous, christ, whatever happened to common courtesy.

Hit a cat, leave it to die, don't even think about apologising to the owners or getting it to a vets? You sound like a lovely person...

I think he was getting at the same thing a few people were, the driver may not have known he/she had even hit a cat highlighting the fallacy of certain members in traditional Daily Mail manner asking for them to burn at the stake (sp?)

I (my family) have had 14 cats, none had "road sense" training and not one of them run over. Family house on main road and they often crossed it to get to the playing fields.

You'll know you've hit something, hitting something is different to hitting a pothole and both you'll feel. Especially something the size of a cat.
And unless you're paying absolutely no attention you'll see a cat run out in front of your car.

As cruel as it is, you're not supposed to stop if you've hit a cat as this action may pose a hazard to other road users... yeah weird, but they are to treated the same as any other accidental roadkill. If you hit a dog it has to be reported because dogs can be registered for certain benefits (so if you just killed it, it has to be taken off the register).

Anyway, what would you do if you hit a cat? Start knocking on every door in town? Cats wander all over the place, it could take ages to find the owner. Maybe the driver hit Casper at 3am and didn't want to wake the neighbourhood up. Not enough info in the article to be passing judgement really is there?

Thats just stupid, you stop, check if it's still alive. If it is, take it to the vets.
A lot of cats wear collars, these collars will usually have addresses or numbers on.

You hit a family pet, it's common courtesy to at least try and do something.

You've put a reason for dog, what about horses? Horses are essentially pets.

Oh, I don't dispute that it's stupid. I just remember asking my driving instructor about it way back when I was learning to drive and him telling me that's what the official policy is from the highway code bods or whatever government section it is that decides on these things.

Don't know what the rules are about horses.

Yeah I have been told the same thing. Although I would still have to stop just because i'd feel like a hoorible person if I didn't.

Poor cat but to be fair the driver probably didn't even realise and you don't have to stop if you hit a cat anyway.

Don't you have to now stop for a cat? I'm sure they changed the rules a while ago and you have to report it like you would a dog.

Poor Casper. :(
