Mistakes at work?

My first job was working in the parts department of a citroen garage. One of the mechanics gave me a sheet of paper and asked me to order some bits. I ordered both sides of the paper. Stuff turned up the next day and i'd ordered a new engine and also all the bits to fix one. ie cylinder head and bits. Turns out the one side was the bits to fix it and the other side was a complete engine. Oops. Cost the company best part of £1000. Thing is the bits where still there three years later when i left.

It's too easy to wind me up :(

EDIT: Anyway, I deleted once an accounting manager some important files (I deleted his whole profile), which were not recoverable any more and since the back up system we had in place didn't really work (his files weren't backed up) he lost the whole month worth of work. I made up some excuse though :)

I might of stopped the system running once, and caused around 140k worth of down time, which I covered up :)

It costs us 8k per minute :p

Knocked the powerlead out of one of our main Virtual host machines, not really my fault as we SHOULD be buying servers with redundent power supplies especially when there hosting multiple machines as VMs

I just hung around in the server room for a few mins until everything had come back up, and pretended to be none the wiser when asked if the internet had gone down (surprisingly no one else noticed a thing even though 2 DCs, 1 Main apps server, a print server and a proxy server all went down - must have been a lot of slackers that day)

Only other major problem ive caused was when our main 4108 core switch was close to capacity, i made a change on it (most likely configuring Vlans at the time) next thing i know i had lost my telnet connection and half the network is no longer working
 
The most noobish one i can think of at the moment was inputting the incorrect DNS ip on a cluster of scrapers.
Didn't result in any loss of ££ but did have me scratching my head for a while!
 
The other day at work (in a supermarket) I was rushing around as it was really busy, and i was hungover, thus not paying any attention what so ever, i ran my pallet truck into a nice bulk stack of fosters....boss was not pleased, i also had to clear my puke from the pile of cans and beer :(
 
I used to work for a company in Atlantis. I accidentally left the tap on in the bathroom near my office and went home. Flooded the whole city overnight, and no one has been able to find a trace of the city since.

I'll never own up to it though!
 
I once emailed a customer a picture of a keyboard with the SPACE key highlighted little realising he wanted to know where the SPACE key was on his Blackberry.

Was lol ^_^
 
Took down BP's computer room after blowing 16 halon bottles as forgot to isolate a trigger panel . Was down most of the day and cost £££££££

Looks like someone made a mistake at work tonight, one of the forklifts was charging and I noticed a strange smell every time I walked past.

Eventually I had a look as it was starting to become clear it was an acid / sulphur kind of smell and I see acid bubbling and steaming out of the battery compartment.

Woops.
 
In an old job I printed off hundreds of letters on the wrong letterhead a couple of times. Doesn't really cost a lot in terms of the stock, postage etc (maybe £100) but it doesn't look very good when people are getting letters with the wrong stuff pre-printed on them, plus cost of having to field a lot of calls.

Then again I was paid an absolute pittance in that job relative to the complexity of it, as they found out the hard way when they tried outsourcing it after I'd moved on :)
