If you were feeling malicious at work, what's the most damage you could do?

well.. im a student, so not really work

had this been about 2 weeks ago i could have destroyed a few degrees ;)

could probably some how manage to cut power to the library where 00's of students were finalising assignments :D

if i went in now, i suppose i could smash up all the computers

I could release the source-code to our proprietary software, take down all of the servers and our website.

I could permanently destroy our product actually, as I have access to all of the servers and the physical backup locations/disks.

So essentially, I could destroy my company. That wouldn't have a huge affect on the rest of the world though.

About the same. Actually, I could also destroy the website of our sister company too. No impact to the rest of the world though (apart from clients).

You work for realVNC don't you?

Release some private encryption keys into the wilds, open access to lots of very restricted data sites, the list goes on.

Anyone with a computer in an organisation could do a lot more damage then they think.

I'm a student... So baseball bat to the cheap as chips windows 98 library computers, might get about 30 before the security guards come up and try to rugby tackle me. Then I could hit some books really hard denting their covers and making a mockery of the whole place. Before vaulting through the turnstiles and out into the free world.

Format D: 4 years of work, gone.

You've saved 4 years worth of work on a single drive with no resilience whatsoever?

God help you if that drive is a Maxtor.

I could probably take out with a bit of effort, the major system on which our global system relies, and all it's backup systems.

Good job they look after me well eh? ;)

wipe out thousands of Shell's servers with a malicious script...someone did it last year as well (accidentally) luckily it only wiped out a few hundred as it only got through half the list of servers with names starting with A. I had to rebuild 40 of the Citrix servers we have for our apps, damn you amsterdam data centre

Format D: 4 years of work, gone.

Format G: 5 years of work gone . ( ok I am sure it's backed up somewhere) but what if it wasn't ?

Oh and use any of the 10,000 or so credit cards we have on file for hookers drugs and anything I wanted to do really .

Poured sand into the engine of my bosses Mercedes because he stitched me up over a pay rise.
