Not to steal the thunder from Top Gear's 'Cool Wall' I had the idea of coming up with some cars and posting your reviews on whether they are cool or not.

So to get the ball rolling.

Audi A3

No Hotlinking! http://www.autospectator.com/cars/files/images/2009-Audi-A3_0.jpg

I think it's cool. It combines a little get around car and a nice hatchback for the city.
OK the price tag is not overly great, but none the less I think that car is cool. :D

Not cool, as has already been discussed on Top Gear, Audi's are currently purchased by the cocks who used to buy BMWs. Overpriced, typically underperforming, dull to drive, and has no redeeming "cool" features at all.

I'm not sure about the demographic that buys them, but the car taken on it's own merrits, I agree. It's a dull, over priced, hatchback, with no real remdeeming features.

Remember how the car drives/looks etc is irrelevant on the cool wall.. it's about coolness ;)

So I can't be relied upon to give any credible suggestions..

Or do we use the JC test of

"What would Celebrity X think if I pulled up outside their house to take them for dinner in this car?"..

:D

Super cool and super rare

The only bit of that which is opinion is that they are bought by cocks. Them being typically underpowered (ie most models) and being dull to drive are unfortunately factual characteristics of the A3 (and tbh, most Audis).

I'm sorry but I disagree. It is a cool hatchback. Forget about the finical side of things, IMO it is very versatile and makes it feel like a normal audi rather than a hatchback. That alone is worth some credit.

So what you are saying there is, it's the Audi for people who can't afford "normal" i.e. proper Audis. It's just a Golf with a different suite on is all, but I think the Golf is actually a better car than the A3 for various reasons, one of which is it's cheaper to buy but gives you just as much car.

The coolness factor is very hard to agree on I suppose, but I would say that the Golf is a more 'honest' car than an A3, which frankly is trying to be an upmarket car but it's the wrong size and shape for that, it sells more on the merits of it's badge and the other cars in the range than it does on it's own merits, since it doesn't have anything going for it that a Golf doesn't really. And Golf's are over priced and over hyped for what they are too really, which is no better than a Ford Focus, although they do have a nicer interior I admit and are great in GTI form, but then so is the Focus in ST form.

Absolutely not cool, it's another hatchback (only this one has a crap badge) trying to be sporty? ...give me a break, Astra VXR does manage this to some degree, but a 'sports back' which probably has a diesel engine or a 1.8 petrol trying to be 'cool' ...hehe nope, not even slightly.

Let me try something I actually think is cool, and timeless. The 1968 Dodge Coronet (I think this one is either Super Bee or an R/T) This car was the less well known sister car to the Plymouth Road Runner.

With a 440ci 7.2L 'Magnum' V8 :D
