Morning!

Just ordered a Wii, with Sports and Resort which will keep us going for a while game wise, but I was just wondering if it's worth ordering a component cable for it, or if the standard cable that comes with it is ok.

Also, any essential accessories that I may want/need?

Many thanks!

Edit: Using on Panasonic Plasma by the way.

Cheers, didn't think it would make a huge difference, may pick one up later.

Another quick question, does the console come with a nunchuk as well as a Wiimote?

Yep, well the wii sports plus pack I bought the missus last week did anyway.

oh and defo get the component cable, the picture using the standard picture cable is shocking.

Would a scart lead give a better picture for actual use? I know that component would give the sharper picture, but for actual use would the Wii look better over scart? Not drawing your eye to so much to it's "meh"ness:confused:

I'm currently using an RGB scart on an HDTV and it looks very good. I've also ordered a component cable. I'll post here when I've compared.

Thanks, will try and wait it out, my order hasn't been dispatched yet, so I have a few days to decide. I'll just get the cable on the high street.

Worth it just to use it in 480P mode and get rid of the horrible colour bleed from the crappy composite rubbish they still give out with consoles these days!

Burry and nasty :(

Lovely and crisp!

Thanks for that HeX, just didn't want to show up the Wiis limitations by using component, when scart may disguise some of it, if you know what I mean.

Can't wait to play some old games now, going to try and get hold of Burnout 2 from the Gamecube, one of all-time favourite Xbox games:D

TBH it makes the Wii look better rather than worse.

Gives everything nice crisp edges, and textures look far more detailed.

Right, component it is then. Thanks:D

I too bought a wii at xmas and bought the board etc, my missus wanted it for yoga etc, needless to say I figured on having a tad of fun myself so I did a bit of research, component is defo the way to go, much better picture, also worth noting, I found most people recommended spending an extra 5 or 6 quid and buying the official component cable, much more robust, and once you got it, never need to worry again. I also purchased an unpowered component switcher, works an absolute charm with the xbox360 too. Again this was like 12.99 the cable was about 17.99 if i remember right. Got mariokart, and a wheel, lots of fun. Just bought a zapper today and ghost squad, lots of fun. Anyways enough babbling good luck matey.

I have a Panasonic Plasma, and there's a HUGE difference between component and composite.. I just bought my cable from a famous auction site for not a lot either.

Typical! Thought I would pop out yesterday to get a component cable for when the Wii arrives, and couldn't get one on the high street!

Had to order online in the end, can't believe how hard it is to get one. In GAME they said the only place to buy one is nintendo.com... Yeah, thanks for that:(

I got my component cable on ebay for £3.36, shipped from Hong Kong. Have plugged it in and switched it on, but not had a full play. Wii menu looks nice though!

Mine arrived today, only payed £3.25 for it. Glad I didn't pay any more now, it has worked a treat! Everything looks a little sharper, and a little bit nicer. Well worth the money.

I've bought RE4 so far (not had a chance to have a go yet), and thinking of getting Super Mario Bros tomorrow. Think that'll be about it for Wii games then, I've already got more than enough unplayed games on my PS3, don't need to go getting any more:D
