Hi there, I will be turning 18 in the summer and me and 3 other friends have always said about going on holiday in summer 2010 once we are all 18! We were thinking about Ibiza or somewhere similar with a good beach nice weather pool, water sports etc.

The budget is up to £550 for the holiday, we were then planning on about £200-£300 for spending money.

Does this seem a good budget? Are there any suggestions where to stay what to-do etc or even go somewhere completely different?

edit- it will be for a week, during september. The £550 must include the flights aswell. We also thought fully inclusive would be the best option.

I'm going to Shagalluf in June for 2 weeks with 3 of my friends, we are all 18/19 so it should be good fun :D It's costing us about £400 per person and I'm looking to take around 1.2k in spending money.

Avoid Ibiza and Majorca, prices ok to get there but clubs and bars 'get their arm in whilst in resort'

I would recommend Turkey (Marmaris or Bodrum) very cheap in resort and no extra for clubs etc :D also Malia in Crete or any of the Greek Islands are grand and good value.

If you're not that bothered if you have a rep or not .... try looking at the lowcost carriers ie Easyjet, Ryanair and Fly Thomas cook etc and get accom separately - normally a lot cheaper, Hotels4u.com I find is a great site ;)

Hope you get booked, I remember my first hol - enjoy !!! ;)

I fail to get why young folks go off to the sun, spend 1k on liquid and then come home totally white with no colour. Whats the point in going to the sun then? Maybe I'm lucky as I don't drink but what a waste of money. 1.5k to go and get hammered in a warm country sleeping all day and up all night. Different definitions of the word 'holiday' I think. If I had that money to spend on a holiday at 18/19 I'd be away seeing more of the world.

Being in a warm country has nothing to do with getting a tan.
Not that I would ever go on a holiday as you've mentioned :P

Same, never seemed appealing to me. I would rather have saved and gone somewhere not so much like home. I don't see why people would want to spend much money on going somewhere to get hammered and party, and yes it is a bit warmer but :/ First time I went to Spain years ago I was so disappointed. It was all the same food and same people except for the warm weather :(

Would love to go to Japan/China/India. But all my friends just wanna go Kos, Bulgaria etc.

There seems to be no mention of all the loose women he will encounter whilst there, he is 18 and I am pretty sure sight seeing isnt on top of his agenda.
Magaluf is good as it has a quiet part aswell if you want a break from partying and a nice beach, if you like your dance music then Ibiza is great.
Add another £500 to your spending money though as running out of funds whilst abroad can be very depressing.

Join the Navy and get all the same perks whilst getting paid. :D

I thought the OP was straight though :p

Its getting really expensive to go to Europe these days, my sister is just back from Tenerife. 5-10 euros was normal for a pint

Try looking further afield, may be a bit more expensive for flights but spending money could be a bit cheaper.

O and £300 isn't enough for a bunch of 18YO for a week, well if your like me and want to drink most days.

Aye, I'm in the same boat. Go alone! People always tell me a holiday alone really is an experience that's needed. I think they mean more backpacking for a few months though.

Pay for my flights and I'll head to China with you :D
