Just out of curiosity, wikipedia claims that a person with O- can only receive blood from another O- person. Is this correct?

Looks like AB+ is the blood type to have.

No idea what mine is, probably good ol' O+.

Yes O- can give to all but O- person can only receive O-

I tried to give blood whilst I lived in the states, but they wouldn't let me as I'd lived in England! They said there was a chance I'd been near contaminated livestock.. fair enough!

I've had numerous blood samples taken, and nobody's ever been able to tell me when I've asked. Even more alarmingly, I had keyhole surgery on the 14th December to remove my gall bladder, and whilst signing the consent forms on the morning of the op, I found that the consultant didn't seem to know either.

I don't actually know, would be interested though, just got put off blood donating after a family member had a few complications from it stupid reason too, as I have a lot of respect for people who donate blood, my mum has all these badges from donating, think she's got a gold one by now

What type of blood test would tell you? ... I'm going for some in a weeks time, and curious whether any will test for what type I am.

Donate blood - they send you a letter with your blood group on it. I think they'll also tell you if you've tested positive for certain illnesses.
