Battlefield BC2 looking dam sweet

Not really, PC Gamers have been dying for a good, new, online FPS for a while now.

Consolers seem quite happy with their rehashed games.

Gave up and bought this + ME2 on Steam instead of EA Store, £65 on Steam, £60 on EA Store (albeit that was the ME2 Limited Ed.) but for a £5 may as well let Steam do the patching, nothing good in ME2 Limited Ed anyway.

Forgive my thickness chaps, but is this a new released BF game for the PC I can buy/download from somewhere? I am seeing pre-order, steam, packs and all sorts of stuff which my fragile little mind is struggling with. Put simply, gizza link where I can buy a final game or tell me when it's due out! :D

Just pre-ordered on Steam. I only ever played the BC1 demo on Live but can see BC2 being really good on PC. I agree that this is starting to feel like the good old days of PC gaming again where a new FPS has got everyone excited.

Still not really seen anything in my gaming days quite as epic as the stuff that used to go on in BF1942 and the Desert Combat Mod. I remember clans of sniper teams heading up into mountains in a group as part of vast teams of players. Some of the tank combat really rocked too. I never actually got quite as into BF2 but only cos my 2005 era PC sucked and I didn't upgrade for years.

Hopefully this game will fill the PC open world FPS void for some time to come. Arma 2 is very good but really an offline game for me. Everything else is getting dated. All I really want from BC2 is a hill to snipe on and a private squad mic channel (whether that be in-game or just a steam voice session). Good times coming hopefully.

Steam & EA Store both have Digital Downloads available.

EAStore + VoucherCodes.com25% as a voucher = ~£27
Steam = £35

Both have beta access & unlocks as a preorder bonus.

Beta is available on 28/01/10
Release is available on 02/03/10

Both let you preload (i.e download most of the game) a few days before release.

rofl!

Can you cancel Steam pre-orders (will be wanting to if there is a four pack)

No you can't.

But if you ask them nicely they may do it once as a one time only good will gesture.

When L4D 1 was due out I pre ordered on Steam, at the time prices were still in dollars and I had assumed that the exchange rate was around 2 dollars to the pound.

It wasn't and it actually cost me £33. After seeing it was £19.99 from Amazon for the retail version, I contacted Valve about cancelling. They said they don't normally and it's in the user agreement, but they said they would refund just this once as a good will gesture.

Over the week it took to sort out, the exchange rate meant I was refunded £36, saving £16 against the retail version.

Bought 2 copies from Amazon for only £4 more than the Steam version, so my son was happy.

Anyone else find it amusing that the pc thread for this game is 10x as big, while the people that have actually played the previous game (consoler's) is only 4 pages long.

LOL. Is it because "we" (consolers) have already played Bad Company 1 and know what to expect in a fashion? I don't know what improvements there are over BC1 - the gold rush and "capture the flags" modes seem unchanged, the weaponry seems unchanged, just different maps really.

well 4 v 4 will require more teamwork to be good at it, so it could make a good choice for clan play. For public servers though I don't think there will be enough teamwork for it to be amazing.

Nah i mean the game mode that was originally gold rush in bc1, that one with setting charges onthose crates, far as im aware its called rush mode.

thats the first thing I thought when I saw how the player moved and the guy aimed the weapon :(

Wel maybe becuase all the footage so far has been from the console version?

Thats because many PC gamers remember and still play the best online shooter ever made Battlefield 2:)

Frostbite 2 now enables you to level whole buildings instead of just blowing a few holes in the building(although i did like bc1 a lot,it was the ps3 control pads that put me off it,even using a keyboard/mouse converter from a pc did not work cause the deadzone on the mouse was way way too much)

Aye, I did notice that - some people were just shooting the walls of buildings in tanks causing the building to collapse on to the bomb container and destroy it. But it only seemed to affect certain buildings, you could destroy all the exterior walls but the internal walls were indestructible on certain ones.
