Blackberrys.................

Well thing is, i'm in the process of selling my phone for around £200 mark as we speak on ebay (up to £155 now!), i'm basically trying to sell it, to make a little profit from it, as i need some money for some other stuff, i've found a lot of blackberrys for around £180ish myself, that's the 8900, i'll be damned if i find a 9000 at that price. I'm speaking to one woman, she has another blackberry 9000 for sale, however there is a slight issue with it, which she says can be updated apparantly with the new software, so with the nicks on it she is willing to sell it for £155 to me, which i am very tempted by. The spare money can also pay for me adding on the BIS plan to my orange contract.

What issue is that??...depends on what software she has running on it...the official OS5 is out for the 9000 Bold...havent had a chance to update mine but will get round to doing it soon enough.

yeah, its still available. but there's a couple of things that i have to mention. i put it on gumtree for £180. however, the battery cover of the handset is a bit damaged, but, you can get it on ebay for £4.25(http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Genuine-B...ies_MobilePhoneFascias_JN?hash=item3ca7204109). plus, the speaker is not working properly. you can talk and hear what other people say on the phone.but when u play video or music, theres no sound and i have to use the headphone. i asked some people around and they said it might be the software bug, which will be fixed when you upgrade the latest version of firmware.but i lost my usb cable,so i cant do that right now. or even if u hav to repair it at a shop, it will only cost £10-£15. taking all of that into account , i will give it to you for £155. if you are still interested, let me know.

That's what she wrote to me. Reckon it's worth it or?

Hmmm the speaker isnt usually a bug tbh...ask her what software OS is she running...if she goes into her option and then goes into about it should be there...it will say something like v4.6.0.xxx the last 3 digits are the OS version.

It could very well be a software bug but then it could not be if you get what im saying ie if you buy it then upgrade the software you might still find the speaker might not work.

but if you can get me the OS version, i can have a look and see if that version solves the speaker not working but id say probably not...to me it sounds like a hardware problem ie speaker not working as shes probably dropped it.

I'll try and find out, but to be honest, i won't be using the music/video player, as i have an itouch for music stuff. Aslong as i can talk to people fine, etc

I've gone on some blackberry repair websites, roughly averaging around £30 for new speaker, can't be bothered to pay that, so i think i might just go ahead with the £155 especially since it's a 9000 not 8900.

I'll let you know.

Oh, she claims the sound is fixed now, she just had to factory reset.

So seems like a good deal, i only have to get a new back cover as the one is chipped, £150 i think done deal?

current os version is v4.6.0.303(platform 4.0.0.248)

That's the OS.

Old OS, in fact ancient lol...but easily solved by a new OS update if you can be bothered to do it....pretty straightforward and relatively pain free.

Well if the sound is fixed then id go for it but if shes had to a factory reset, it could mean the problem comes back...but for £150 its not bad at all.

Aha ok, yeah she mention 5.0 something, is it just a matter of using USB cable and updating?

I think i will take the punt, will keep you posted once my ebay phone sells hopefully!

Slightly OT but didn't think this was worth a new thread. I got my new 9700 the other day but the V and B keys have very little click in them, they're limp. Is this worthy of getting a replacement?

I would say so...it could get worse where they stop working altogether...not worth the risk.

9700 for sure, beats all other models in every way. The 9000 is still an excellent device imo though and is cheap now with the release of the new Bold.

I also have a 8900 and it is a lovely device as well, so much lighter and compact but the lack of 3G is a letdown but it never really bothered me tbh.

2 months to go for 9700 upgrade! :D

Okay, can someone explain to me what the hell I use the "switch application" function for?

Not sure what you mean, but are you referring to holding down the BB key?

It shows which applications are still open and running and also is easier to switch between them if they are not on the home screen.
