**HTC HD2 Thread**

am trying to do some of the changes but now my phone wont be recognised by activesync - keeps saying no connection - probably something I have done, havent had a WM phone in ages!

No, that is Opera's fault. It loads via it's own proxy to speed things up, but compresses images as a result.

View a page in IE and images will be their normal size and quality.

Have switched to Virgin from Tmobile and as they use the same networks both suffer the image compression, it doesnt matter what browser you use it still does it. If I tether the phone and use a laptop for browsing with firefox it still compresses the image.

Yeah I still get that problem with Opera Turbo disabled and in IE, so its definately the image proxy thats making it look bad. According to this thread http://www.3g.co.uk/3GForum/showthread.php?t=44215 if you are a T-Mobile user it can be disabled. Can Virgin users do it too?

Had enough of not being able to connect to the internet with the Virgin sim so i slapped in my Voda sim and voila! Blazingly fast, solid 3G connection. Oh and images werent compressed either (on Opera), so its not an Opera issue.

I would be keeping this handset if it wasnt for Virgin's poor network speeds!

Not flashed a new ROM...yet. But do you have to reinstall everything again every time you do? Including re-doing all settings? That would really put me off.

Yes you do, but consider the following:

1) Most apps take seconds to install
2) A lot of apps let you export settings
3) Some cooked ROMs have an "autoinstall" feature (you put any cabs in an "autoinstall" DIR and they get automatically installed after the flash).
4) There are backup utilities (Sprite Backup and others) which let you export system settings and also other Regediting apps which let you export the reg.

All in all, it's not 'that' much hassle - unless you maybe have 101 apps installed... in which case....... get a life :p

Just flashed the ROM. All seems grand :D

Although I cant install duttys. It just says unsuccessful every time now! Any way to install it?
