psu upside down?

Ok began a build

case is antec 902

psu = corsair 650.

If i put the corsair psu in so that the writing reads the correct way , then the fan is pointing at the bottom of the case (very bad for airflow i imagine), however i can see a small recess that i presume it may draw a small amount of air through, failing that should i be mounting it the other way round so that the writing reads upside down and the fan faces upwards.

Case instructions should say,

If its got a vent at the bottom then use it, don't think there is a problem either way up.

What if the psu sits on 2bars and the underside is raised 10mm but has no vents? is it advisable to turn psu pointing down with only 10mm of airspace. Only reason I want to turn it the otherway is Im thinking, one day im gonna drop somthing in the psu, I mean Ive dropped a couple of screws before but if one went through the fan vent and into the psu...... BANG

Hey lets mount it the other way writing will be upside down and fan will do **** all.....

no need for the sarcasm, doesnt really help......

Plenty of cases that are designed for psu's to be upside down.

none, nevermind. Rather Over watted PSU I may add for such a low wattage setup :D, You cant be using much over 300watts on that surely.

main reason i got the 750watt is the 5770 is a tide me over till 5870 prices drop then i will be x firing 5870's hence why i got the best AM3 board you can get that runs 16x16 x fire.Look at benchies for this Mobo compared to others in x fire set-ups came out on top in all test. Plus overclocking on this board is a piece of cake

ok smarty pants why do corsair print their writing right way up with fan facing up. if it was ment to point down they'd have put the writing that way.
Dude.

I've got a Corsair HX650 and this might be news to you since you don't have one but mine has the fan upwards and the writing has to be upside down.

The intentions of the PSU makers and the case makers don't always match up.

I don't care. If I wanted to look at a power supply I'd have a case with a window

Well I chose to mount mine with fan facing down in the Antec 300 as there is a 10mm gap all the way underneath. The main reason was that directly above the PSU fan is the GFX card fan that would be pulling air in the opposite direction (up), above that the CPU fan pulling air up and above that the top case fan pulling air up. Plus the cabling was neater. What it's got to do with the writing I don't know, my Antec Truepower has a sticker that is facing the right way up the way I have mounted it, fan down, but an embossed Antec logo that would face the right way up if I flipped it over...

ok cool, I may turn my psu upside down then soon as the cables will be up agaisnt the side of the case instead of the side window which they are atm. I think a much neater outcome, Im sure thinking about it that the psu is able to draw air easily enough with that gap then? I hope so :D

tried mine both ways up in my antec 1200, temp difference was around 2 celcius cooler with fan up, I can live with that so put it face down to make cable management easier

I've been running my Enermax Galaxy with the fan facing up for years in a 900/902 , and never had a single problem with it.
