Corsair H50 or air !?

I know 2 people that have H50's. Both have leaked. I saw one of them being installed and it definitely wasnt mistreated (they are kinda awkward though).
Temps weren't that great really, noise depended entirelly on the fans used which is the same as an air cooler and i think they are pretty damn ugly
If you are going to introduce the risk of pumping liquid around your PC (say what you want, it IS a risk) you would be daft not to want the best thermal performance and, although somewhat of an afterthought, impressive looks as possible.

I currently use a Prolimatech Mega Shadow with 2 Apache Black Super Silent 120mm fans
not cheap but keeps my i7 at 4ghz well within spec.

No mater how sealed the H50 is there always that chance of it leaking & killing ya rig, with air no such problem.

Yes I did, although I had to use one of his existing case fans and the stock fan.

Regarding the H50 leaking and killing components, I'm pretty sure I read on the Corsair forum that they will actually replace any hardware if it was to leak...

Now if they had the brains to put some bigger radiators on the thing, and longer cabling, things might get interesting.
BUT the H50 loses out consistently to the top end, cheaper air coolers- check the reviews, and there is a possibility of them failing or leaking that just isnt there with a static hunk of metal air cooler. (worst comes to worst you gotta replace a fan).
H50 is the future of high end cooling, as the Venomous X has shown people are having real difficulty taking air any further, but the design needs improving on.
It isn't the best price, risk, lifespan or performance wise- so why bother? - with the exact same kit I am using a lapped and pressure modded TRUE, and just cant get over 40 degrees C on stock.

While I agree with many of your points (for example, bigger radiator), it's not really useful to compare mediocre loads. Every cooler has a thermal limit at which it can no longer cope. Just because your TRUE can cope well with a mediocre load (e.g. i7 @ stock, 130W) doesn't mean it'll cope well once the voltage is upped and the power goes up to 160W. This is borne out by some coolers performing better at lower thermal loads than others, but then falling behind when the wattage is cranked up.

H50 is keeping my system below 50°C on a 42% overclock, so if you're aiming to OC I say go for it.
I've just replaced my Noctua NH-U12P cooler which I was running with 2 Apache Fans in Push/Pull (PWM), to a H50. This is to cool my [email protected].
Thought I'd give it a try.
I swapped out the supplied Corsair fan for an Apache, which is being run non-PWM, so at full tilt.
The H50 is set up to pull cool air into my Corsair 800D case, with 3 Apache Fans running PWM at the top of the case gently sucking warm air back out.
My temps on my Q6600 have dropped around 8 degrees using the H50 in this setup.

Im sorry but i dont believe them temps, even the best custom watercooling kits cant manage those temps.
6c difference on full load with hyperthreading.... not a chance.
ok so if you at all the reveiws all over the net they are wrong ? like i said im not on about idleing im on about LOAD... whats you load at 3.8 ?
I have just got rid of my H50-1 so i know what sort of temps and there is no way your going to get under 60c @ 4Ghz with that cooler.
MY 4Ghz i7 OC idles at 35c-38c and tops out 68c-73c with my H50, works out a couple of Deg lower than my Megahalems and 10c lower than the Fenrir.
Stock it was 59c-63c on load.

That isnt what he was saying. Hes saying at STOCK speeds - thats 2.66GHz on a 920 D0.
My Setup hits 57 on its hottest core at 3.8GHz FULL LOAD.
Reviews/benchmarks etc are all well and good but theres a lot that affects the temps; eg thermal compound, application method, case airflow, fan static pressure, fan setup.
If you read what he says properly :
" My H50 keeps my 920 sat at 27-31 idle and tops out at 58 @ 4ghz under prime "
