It's ok!............, we shouldn't get irritated by such a post that lacks insight and reasoning.
I think we need to understand there are allot of Nvidiot's hurting right now, and this is just how they express themselves. :p

You so conveniently forget that there are also countless nVidia users experiencing problems with their cards.

Look at how nVidia acted with the Vista release, they didn't address any driver issues for around 6 months.

This is the point that people like you simply refuse to get, it's not restricted to ATi just because YOU personally haven't had driver issues with an nVidia card.

If ATi drivers suck, nVidia drivers also suck because they're simply as bad as eachother.

Well I guess you have to base your opinion on a manufacturer based on what you read and what you experience. And for me that massively points to the fact that ATI drivers are utter carp. I don't know what you expect me to do? Poll everyone with a graphics card? The truth is I have used a *lot* of ATI and NV cards and NV drivers have been much better. Simples.

Either way, you're still wrong. :)

Yeah, I had GTX 260 before my 5870 and OMG they were the worst drivers ever, stability was zero, wont touch Nvidia for along time to come, ATI PWN them in hardware and driver support...ATM.

OMG what am I turning in to...

I currently run,

4890
gtx280
x1950xt
8800gs x 6
8800gt x 2

+ a few I cant remember... so I can talk about all of them.

Over the last year the Nvidia drivers have been the more problematic for me. I had to resort to two full re-installs to fix one problem and that was on established Nvidia hardware, that sucked.

For a 5 series card, people need to remember they are dealing with a new OS and new hardware, of course they are going to have problems. Things are bad enough when a new card comes out, let alone a new OS and tones of flakey middle-ware.

I agree with Kylew, ATI and Nvidia are about the same when it comes to drivers.

 "Oh dear" indeed.

Just because something is your opinion, doesn't make it invulnerable from being wrong.

You CAN quantify the reliability of nVidia AND ATi drivers, tests carried out actually demonstrated nVidia's drivers were far worse than ATi's in fact.

However, I'm not gonna dwell up on that as it doesn't mean anything to me, drivers by their very nature are temperamental.

kylew look at your original post. You posted saying "either way your wrong" that is idiotic when I posted IN MY EXPERIENCE NV drivers are better than ATIs. Please tell me your not sinking to the level of "rhys216"

Newer drivers generally bring performance increases, 180s are very old, if you updated them you'd probably squeeze a little more performance out of your 8800GTs.

i got a 280GTX and a 8800GT they run everything i need across 3 screens at 60FPS. i am not risking it when i dont need to.

new doesnt mean better, just as my nvidia raid controller that ;) about drivers

Absolutely, and your comments are based on your experiences right? Just the same with me

Yes they are, but I don't agree with your comment below as I've found things to be completely the other way round recently.

The problem is son that it isn't a case of one person having issues with ATI drivers, it's a torrent of people and as hard as it might for you to accept that ATI drivers suck, they do!

Well I guess that is because of the areas we post in / view. So for me on the GPU front it's mainly Linux and Unix forums where NV seems have a better rep, perhaps for you it's more Windows forums etc where ATI might have a better rep. So it's all relative. For me, with my experience I'd stick with ATI generally having terrible drivers on all platforms I work on. That just me being honest.

Yeh you really mentioned it was your personal experience in your original post.
Secondly Kylew is right your still wrong, below is an example to help you understand the simple yet seemingly unattainable logic.

"My Honda Accord broke down the other day, damn they are so unreliable"

But check out this link

So dangerstat are you man enough to admit your wrong and I'm right? (sorry to sound arrogant but I couldn't help myself)

I'm not disputing your experience, that's your experience, however when you talk as if your experience is fact that their drivers are crap, then I'll tell you that you're wrong.

Well if comes across that way I apologize. All I am saying is that by using 20+ ATI / NV cards in every instance I've found ATI drivers have been worse that NVs. For me that's enough backup for me to prefer NV over ATI when I buy a GPU. I don't see any problem with that stance.

I don't care about ATI or NV as companies, I do care about the stability of their drivers and their support for GPGPU computing and given those criteria NV tend to be better. Just my view.
