Cat Dispute

Can we just confirm this is now a "I will do as I please regardless" thread?

Confirmation given.

It would be if the cat was anything technically more than just someone else's property ...

We still don't even know if the woman is telling the truth. Her story is plausible, but likewise she did sweet FA to see about getting her cat back. She abandoned him, the cat isn't hers anymore. If the cat wanted to go live with her again, we'd have no issues with it.

ps. I don't like your signiture as it is a quote out of context ..

How is it out of context? Moses admits he's a fag and I've merely immortalised it for everyone to share in the reflective lulz.

I vote you chip the cat. Then there's no more arguing about who owns it - you do :p

Already been chipped. It was done when we took it down the vet to get him checked-up, etc.

you say she did nothing to look for it , how do you know ?

going from some selfish posts in here i would bet you never looked for 'lost cat' adverts in local papers. definitely didn't put any free 'cat found' ones in there.

the cat is hers. it only comes to you because your bribing it with food and attention. i could do this with any cat in my street very easily but its totally unmoral to do so so instead we chase them back outside when they come in

I'm not answering this for the third sodding time Andy. Go read.

Again, read the thread. I did no such thing to bribe it here. It lived in our back garden for the best part of two months without ever leaving and we never gave it food. After many weeks of this, it was obviously beginning to starve and was running in and stealing our other cat's food. We stopped it, we didn't encourage it. Then the weather began to turn so we allowed it inside. It never left. Get your facts straight.

It does sound like you have actually tried to do the best thing for the cat in this situation Nix, and I can appreciate it. We "adopted" 2 stray moggies years ago, it took many months of attention to get them remotely tame, 1 eventually became a loyal loving pet, the other would never get tame enough. They clearly didnt belong to anyone else.

If that lady did own the cat, there's no way in the world she wouldnt have SOME kind of photographic evidence of it, which would be pretty much indesputible.

However, you've taken the cat in in a pretty poor state - and if she does get annoying about it, I'd just call in the RSPCA, or advise her that you're willing to and would pursue a neglect case against her if thats the way she wants to take matters.

Hopefully she'll see sense.

Stop being a tit Skyfall. The whole reason this thread exists is because it's a awkward situation and I wanted opinions.

That's exactly what you got, his opinion.

Shame that because it didn't fit with what you want to hear you deem him a tit, speaks volumes about the cat "dispute"..

He was hanging around our back-garden for the best part of a month and was getting thinner and thinner

Sounds like you're just modifying facts to suit your argument that you should be allowed to keep the cat.
