Could we see Jesus?

Sorry, am in a quirky mood.

I saw in the other thread that on different stars and planets light has to travel so far that on certain planets we could still see the dinosaurs that roamed this planet.

Theoretically, does that mean if we could travel fast enough that we could see what happened on this planet in the past? Could we see Jesus lol?

(Yes I know there is going to be massive science fail in here somewhere).

Whilst you are correct in theory that actual amount of light that would available to view on a far distant planet would be so low that you would be lucky to see a single photon, never mind an image.

It would require faster-than-light travel, which would inherently imply travel through time.

If you were to travel at subluminal speeds (slower than light) then what you saw on the Earth would only be from a time after you left.

Well, yeah you could if you could open a wormhole to a planet 2000 light years away to get there instantly, and have some sort of optical equipment that was capable of zooming in on a man on a planet 2000 light years away.

The wormhole is the hard part. The optical equipment is easy, just ask the guys at CSI, they'll sort you out.

He's not talking about changing events, just viewing them.

And, yes, in theory if you could travel faster than light (or do some sort of quantum entanglement transportation thingy) then you could see light that left the Earth in the past.
