** Catalyst Grey Screen HOTFIX **

Reading around it seems these drivers aren't much good to the majority of sufferers.

My standard 5870 gets this GSOD under 3D when flashed with the pre-overclocked XFX XXX bios so I'm sure it's just unstable cards to blame, there's also a lot of people who are getting it under 2D voltages as well.

In my opinion to solve it they need to either increase the operating voltages under 2D/3D (most likely BIOS update) or recall all the GSODing cards.

i only get it when overclocking the ram on 1 of my cards past 1280, if they bump up the ram voltage a little maybe that will sort it out :D

I've downloaded this an am currently doing a stability test using FurMark.

I think they must have upped the voltages or something because it is now running 10% hotter than before, but it seems to be stable so far. Time will tell.

Cripple.

Make that almost 20% hotter =/ surely that isn't good.

I never used to go above 62 degrees C, it is now at 77.

This has not solved my crashing issue, although my crash does not have lines or anything anywhere. I just keep getting "Drivers have stopped responding and have successfully recovered".

Really annoying =/

Cripple.

You could be right perhaps it's memory related, whatever it is it seems to be a hardware problem.

I've seen people claim to have had it before they even had chance to install the ATI drivers which would suggest it is not a driver bug.

Voltage same here?

How many people in general are getting these crashes, seems a lot.

Fortunately my 5870 has had no problems and I've been gaming quite a bit over the last few weeks, but this issue doesn't inspire much confidence. Is it something that appears as soon as you install the card or has it developed gradually?

I have a 5850 and I only got one of these grey screens when I first used the card which was last Saturday. I have since put it through its paces and yet to encounter another grey screen.

i've had my 5850 since on release , this issue happens randomly, never when gaming tho.

Nice to see they've finally fixed (or attempted to fix) this issue.

What's disgraceful is that the timing of this means it's almost certainly a response to the criticism of their drivers in a recent Tom's Hardware article and that it took this to actually make them do something about it.

Or theyve been working o it for a while and finaly got it fixed? Theres been tons of complaints about this across multiple sites including amd's site, i doubt the thg article had much to do with the fix being pushed out.
