Just powered my new pc up, i have a green light on my motherboard. all fans are running smoothly. but i dont get picture on my monitor any ideas?

Is the 4/8 pin atx connector plugged in, also check that the ram is in the correct slots.

Are there any lights on the monitor to indicate its receiving a signal? Graphics power cable/s plugged in?

it keeps looking for the D-Sub signal which the other computer was, now its a DVI connection on the new graphics card

I had exactly this symptom with some new parts yesterday; looks like one of my DIMMs was faulty. System booted fine with one of them, couldn't even post with the other. Quick enough to find out whether you've got the same problem at least ^^

Do you get any beeps?

With most motherboards you should always get a single beep if the system is completing it's Power On Self Test (POST), it's intended for situations such as this where you may not be getting any visual output.

If you're not getting any beeps then either the speaker is disconnected ;) or there is something preventing the system even completing a self test (try just a single stick of memory, in one socket, then another stick in another socket).

If you are getting a single beep, make sure the monitor is set to the right input (and if your videocard has two outputs try the cable in the other), and if possible try another cable between the videocard and the monitor (it wouldn't be the first time a damaged cable has caused problems).

If you are getting more than a single beep post it up, or look in the motherboard manual (pretty much every beep code tells you something).
