BC2 BETA... Your thoughts and SCREENSHOTS of it

Sorry to be a traitorous dog but I prefer the console versions too. For some reason the player-base seems more willing to actually do the objectives instead of camping like gimps. The whole snipe-on-the-attackers-hill issue isn't anywhere near as prevalent as it is on the PC version.

Not to mention the hugely rock-solid and consistent frame-rate. Which requires PC hardware I'd rather not fork out the money for.

Well iv just got myself a 360elite off the MM so I will be giving the demo a test on it.
Added bonus that everyone and their dog has a 360, I will miss the keyboard and mouse though.

I'm sick of people whining about camping. It's tactical. Stop whining and go camper hunting!

This! Every server on which I've seen the attacking snipers stand on the rock on the hill by the area one spawn point, the same response comes from the defenders- mortar, or just send up grenades. Hell I've even seen an opposite sniper run up the hill and get a few knife kills in before he died due to having left the playable area for defenders!

For some reason i doubt very much to play it at a res of (maybe) 720p with lower res textures, no antialiasing or af etc would require a pc that god would be proud to own.

I agree with the sniper points though for whatever reason whatever the game as soon as theres a sniper class every idiot seems to be whoring it out, seems to be a trait thats consistant with pc shooters and the sad thing is half of them cant snipe worth a crap.

Similar scenario in the beta with the apache, half the people that get into it slam it into the ground in record time and yet when they spawn they come back to try and get it again.

Ok I just gave it another go, and actually had a better game. But I still don't like it on the PC. I came top of the server as well so it's nothing to do with my ability to play the game. However even though I came top I still didn't really enjoy it.

The frame rate is a bit iffy, and turning it down to low doesn't seem to do much I think it's pointless having a "settings" option when the highest vs. lowest settings don't really change anything

It is a lot buggier and choppier on the PC, hit reg is also a lot more obvious - it's bad.

And as the person above me said, the pc fanbase doesn't seem as willing to work as a team and get to the objective, they would rather camp.. when they are ATTACKING lol or they would rather just run AROUND the objective rather than go TO the objective lol.

Plus the very feel of the movement, along with the big guns that take up a large portion of the screen etc, it just doesn't feel like a PC game. It's clear that they originially made this on the Xbox 360 and then ported it to the PS3 and PC.

I think the game is "ok" on the PC, providing you have a top notch PC to play it at, a decent server that doesn't lag, and a group of people who are willing to complete the objectives.

My entire squad just got accused of aimbotting, our crime was being able to aim and cover each other. That XM8p s lethal though.

I suppose you've missed the part where its a beta? Things are being changed for retail, performance optomisations, hit reg, etc. The 360 and ps3 DEMO are based off the feedback that was gathered through the ps3 beta so id imagine its obvious they will be finetuned a bit more and play better.

Force direct x9, that's what I did and it's runs smooth on medium, even with an 8800. The reason "high" to "low" doesn't really change much is because "High" textures aren't in the game yet, only Medium and Low.
Also the game isn't optimised yet, it will be at release though.

The FOV is being fixed in a patch after they release the game, DICE has officially said this, so the big clunky gun taking up half the screen won't be an issue :p

Of course I have gathered that lol it's hard not to when it says "BETA" / "DEMO" at the top. However the "BETA" is being patched, so it is pretty much up to the demo standard anyway. Plus, it doesn't matter how much they patch it, PC gamers seem to prefer to camp and snipe rather than get into the action. Do you honestly believe just because it is a "BETA" that it will change that much, of course it won't, games don't really change that much, BETA is the final testing before release, they will only make a few optimsations and balancing tweaks, they aren't going to improve the performance dramatically over night, nor will they improve the hit reg to that extent.

It is not upto the demo standards at all. Dice stated that they had to pick between features or the stability. They opted for the more stable build. The beta has been updated once so far and all that update included was fixes for mouse sensitivity, fixes for xp users and server stability.

So far nothing in terms of gameplay, hit reg, etc has been updated in the beta and dice still dont know if they will have time to get it updated to include these as the scramble is on to get things finalised.

The 360 and ps3 demo are closer to the retail version than what the pc beta is.

Well we will just have to wait and see then. But honestly, I think these game developing companies have just lost the care for PC gamers. They just want develop the games where the most money can be made, and currently that is the consoles. This is why I think they will concerntrate on the console and leave PC gamers behind, much like IW has done with call of duty.

If they can improve hit reg, stability, and performance that will be good. But I can't see it being improved that much. Another thing they need to try and tackle is the camping, and really encourage players to complete the objective rather than kill as many people as possible. One thing though, why in earth have they not included a thing such as spawn protection? It seems pretty stupid to me that they haven't?
