How much do you spend on food a week?

Eat out once a week so that's £70-100, breakfast is only a few £'s, I spend ~£10 a day on lunch and coffee, evening meals for the week are around £10 each so quite a lot... £200 a week roughly.

When I was at uni I managed to just about get away with £30-40 per week for myself, trying to buy the best I could afford within reason - I went out a lot but was never a big drinker so had more cash to spend on food. Though skydiving took up all my cash by the end of my time at uni! :o

Now, on average I spend around £60-£70 (usually nearer £70) for myself per week. I don't buy alcohol, it's just good wholesome healthy food. But I'm a gym nut so I eat well, it's part of the process and a necessity.

This week £168.65 in waitrose for a family of 3, no alcohol was included in this and my Wife says this is about average.

That's really good! For 3 people that's some clever shopping. When I used to live closer to Waitrose I used to spend about 1/2 of that just for myself alone!

It averages out that we spend around £60 every 3 weeks, so £20 per week.

(Me, wife and puppy)

I spend around £15 a week on lunch at work, so that £20 covers cereals, tea time meals and pop.

Between the two of us our supermarket weekly budget is £60, so that includes all the household essentials as well as the food

About £50. We arrange what meals we are having for that week and shop accordingly, that way we don't waste anything and don't end up buying stuff we don't need.

Edit:

That's for 2 people.

You want your fridge to be empty of anything fresh by the end of the week for sure. I can't believe some people spend £50-60 on themselves for a week, it's craziness, even with top quality food!

It's one of life's great mysteries. Or it's because they're gullible idiots. That's not aimed at anyone in particular, just a generalisation at people who buy a product that one can get simply by turning a tap.

Personally I spend around £15/week on food but that's because all I do is get the bread and cheese for the week on a Saturday morning.

Because our tap water tastes awful. It has so much lime scale that if you leave a glass of water for a few minutes still you can see bits floating around it. It's not really our pipes (they are pretty new) and all houses near me are the same.

Plus, I take bottled water with me to work.

Its a bit hit and miss, our food bill is never the same. We order most of our food online from Asda and the average price is around £110. This will last us for just over 2.5 weeks. We will buy most of out meat products from the local butcher, its a bit more expensive, but better quality which out weights the cost in soo many ways. This will cost us anything from £20 - £40, and we try to make it last 2 weeks.

So I guess our weekly food bill for the 2 of us is around £60, not including if we eat out ;)

My girlfriend and I aim for £20 a week on food for the two of us. I'm lucky enough to get free lunch at work every day, which helps us to be able to keep food spending down.

But on the whole we look out for bargains, buy things in bulk when at good prices and avoid anything overly processed most of our spend is made up of meat/fish/veg.

Wow, some of you have really cheap food bills.

We spend around £100 - £120 a week, two of us, I eat a lot, 2 dogs and a couple of cats as well.

Maybe spend around £50 on dinning out as well - average per week. Depends. We budget for around £500 a month on food and household etc..
