Got my tv, hooked up via a dvi hdmi adapter to my nvidia card.

Problem is that it wont give me 1920x1080 all on the screen, but rather goes behind the screen.

I can select that resize thingy, but then have to change the resolution to something like 1883x1000 or something.

Any ideas on how to just give me 1080p within the screen constraints.

thanks

What screen is it? does it support 1080p with pixel mapping over HDMI from a pc source.

You may have to enable "no overscan" options in the menu.

Need more info

just a quick Q and I dont mean to sidetrack the OPs thread but saves creating a thread for a simple Q, but does anyone know if its possible to set my TV to like a widescreen mode, where you have the black line at the top and bottom on all programmes rather than just certain ones? is it possible?

its a samsung 40"

thanks

look in your tv setup menu for something like full pixel or pixel 1:1,
what model of tv is it ?

Your TV isn't a Panasonic plasma by any chance is it? I have the same issue with mine - got it all working correctly, more through luck than judgement, then when the latest drivers came out they invalidated all my saved profiles and I'm back with lost edges again (and can't remember how I fixed it last time)

I have a Samsung M86 so might be able to help, although the newer ones could be different.

Open the menu and look for Picture > Size> Just Scan, select this to turn off overscan.
If that doesn't work, go to Input > Edit Name and choose 'PC'.

Ah thats good to know! My TV has been doing this since I bought it and I just adjusted the resolution down via the resize.. Will have to check it out tonight and see if I have overscan on as I have a 5 series Samsung too! :)

Yeah it's a weird overscan type feature.

My HD4350 did it when i first installed it - was listed as something like 85% in the CCC settings so changed it to 100% to match the pixels 1:1 and it worked perfectly. :)

I've got this issue with a Sony 40" TV and a Nvidia card, I've adjusted the screen size/shape through the driver software which has worked, but now means its running at 1828 x 1026 - the TV still reports 1080p though.

for sony tv's go into the tv menu, select settings, then select screen, then set display area to full pixel.
your graphics card settings should be set to 1920 x 1080 59 hz.
this is how i got rid of this problem on my sony bravia

That worked spot on.. Thanks for that! :D

Feels better having proper 50" 1080p now.. :)

that is for my htpc and my movies don't judder like hell.
the pc only uses that setting for the desktop and everything else is application controlled.
