Why do manufacturers still produce non-diet versions of soft drinks (Coca Cola, Irn Bru etc)? If they claim they " taste the same, but healthier ", then what's the point in producing a less healthy alternative? Even if they were cheaper to make, if they halted production of them, they'd probably save millions, which they could put towards whatever else they liked. Just a thought!

Because some people don't like the side effects of the artificial sweeteners (for example many are carcinogenic).

Pick your poison. Death from cancer or death from obesity. I'll stick to water.

Diet drinks have aspartame in as a substitute for sugar.

It doesn't have any calories (so stick thin girls are obsesses with it), but it is probably worse for you than normal cola due to a chemical being used to replace the sugar.

^^ +1

Plus, they lie. Diet Coke != Coke. Coke Zero is better, but still != Coke. Ditto Pepsi Max etc. Crazy diabetes-inducing sugar rushes for the proverbial win.

They all have aspartame and sucralose in instead to lower calories, which is worse than having the original drink, as do most diet foods these days.

I think coke zero tastes like damn soda water or like normal coke from the tap when syrup runs out, its just bland. I also recently had a revelation, i don't actually like the taste of coke but have been drinking it for years

Do you think they taste the same?

I think Coke Zero and Diet Coke taste exactly the same. Both taste nothing like the real thing...

I think that's because they are exactly the same, except coke zero is advertised for the vain man who can't be seen to be drinking "diet" drinks.
