Without a shadow of a doubt Pan's Labyrinth.

It's overrated tripe now and it'll be overrated tripe in twenty years.

Del Toro's films are terribly dull.

I have no idea how people are definining 'classic' here. Just seems to be any film that is well-known and that they like a lot.

Why not make your list and set out a definition of how you've defined classic then? That way the reasoning for your choices should be unambiguous even if people don't agree with the choice.

No one mentioned the Dark Knight? :(

Also agree with the LOTRs and definately Gladiator.

Gotta say I also thought Pan's labyrinth was very average when I watched it...

LOTR
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Gladiator
The Pianist
Russian Ark
City of God
Amélie
Shrek

Very good shout.

I'd add Saving Private Ryan to the list, even though it's just outside the last decade, but then the title was "decade or so".

I'd love to say the Bourne films, but I don't think they'll stand up to the test of time as much as a lot of other films.

Just looking through my blu rays and I'd probably say:

Blood Diamond
Casino Royale
Downfall
Oldboy
300

Not sure how many of those would be classed as "classics" tho...

Lost Boys.

Is from 1987 and already considered a cult classic.

I'll go with:

Wall-E
The Matrix
Toy Story
300
28 days later
Taken
American Psyco
Black Hawk Down
Donnie Darko

That'll all I can think of and see on my shelf right now.

I would like to add, and I know I'll get flamed to the high heavens for this, Avatar, on a VERY provisional basis, depending on how it ages and how it does on the transfer to DVD/Blu-Ray. Also yes I know the likes of Tummy will start lighting their torches and sharpening his pitchfork but to hell with 'em.

I'd have to say the curious case of benjamin button. I'm not sure why, but I think in 15 years it will be one of those classic films..

Hot Fuzz
Road Trip
Super Troopers
Pineapple Express
TEAM America
South Park: BL&U
The Simpsons Movie
Family Guy : Blue Harvest

Can't say I want to see any of those movies a second time unless I'm drunk or something.

LOTR probably tops my list.

I agree.

While I enjoyed 300 I didn't think it was anything outstanding in the world of Cinema.

Not in the same league, no sorry not from the same planet that some of the other films are from, for Example Lord of the Rings.

I really want to give a shout out to some of the British films of the past X years that have being really top draw, I'm too tired to think more about this though :(

Just watched Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, that can go up there to.

Add Snatch on as well for that matter.

The first film I thought of was In Bruges.

A very well executed film imo, brilliant acting, gripping from start to finish, dark, very comical, etc...just a good old, honest film, and British too.
