I miss ABIT.

ABIT were awesome. I have been (and still am - IP35Pro) running my systems on their motherboards for years now.

No idea what to go for at next upgrade. Will really miss all the fan control options that they built into their boards.

I really need a bios update for my QUADGT mobo. The latest version broke my speedstep, and it claimed to fix a sleep mode issue...but hasn't fixed it at all!

I still have fond memories of my NF7-S boards. My version 1.0 board broke due do a bad bios(it would corrupt most of the time if you saved changes too much)

Then I got a ver 1.2 which gave you more overclocking options and higher voltages.

Then I had to get the ver 2.0 to let me run my 2500+ then my mobile 2500+

Then you had all the modded bios's to play around with.

Ah those were the days.

Abit had one of the best RMA setups for UK customers based in Stevenage, over the years I only had to RMA 2 motherboards & recieved replacements within 3 working days.

The Abit forums were awesome - very popular, lots of help as well as a lot of interest in gaming etc, a real shame USI pulled the plug on those forums.

a lot of the Abit forum users use these forums >> http://www.theraptorpit.com/forum/index.php

I've switched to Gigabyte now as their RMA service is top notch, they also have a forums http://forum.giga-byte.co.uk/ which are very helpful although no where as near as popular as Abit's were.

Well Oskar Wu was attributed most of the credit for the best Abit boards and he joined DFI, they're still making awesome boards although you see less of them these days.

Abit were awesome! I had great fun and lots of satisfaction both from my NF7-S and my IC7-G...

Countless systems I built using the NF7-M are still in use today and rock stable! Great motherboards, real pity.

my first board was an abit :D
be6-2 or some such pentium 3 mobo was a great board, had an av8 thats lasted years aswell, kids use it for the internet and i think its got over 3 years uptime in the power on bios stats ^^

Had a number of Abit mobos. They were all great...any ideas why they went out of business?

ABIT was founded in 1989. In 1991, they had become the fastest growing motherboard manufacturer, exceeding US$10,000,000 in sales.

In 2000, ABIT underwent an IPO on the TAIEX stock exchange. To keep pace with their "good" sales figures, they opened up a state-of-the-art factory in Suzhou, China, and moved to new headquarters in Neihu, Taipei. The number of motherboards sold was claimed to have doubled between 2000 and 2001.

On December 15, 2004, the Taiwan Stock Exchange downgraded ABIT's stock due to questionable accounting practices. Investigations revealed that the majority of their import/export business was conducted through seven companies, all located at the same address and had a capital of only HK$2 each. This made it easy to inflate the reported number of motherboards sold. The Hong Kong media also reports that the management is being investigated for embezzling funds from the company.

In June 2005, ABIT partnered with Wan Hai Industries. This container shipping company, also a principal investor in China Airlines, brought the company much needed capital.

On January 25, 2006, ABIT announced that USI intended to purchase ABIT Computer's motherboard business and brand and announced a special shareholders meeting to discuss the sale of ABIT's Neihu building, changing ABIT's company name, the disposition of the company's assets, and the release of the directors from non-competition restrictions. ABIT sold its own office building in Taipei to Deutsche Bank in order to raise money to cut its debt.

Following USI's acquisition of the motherboard business, the remaining divisions of ABIT switched to distributing components and networking products, while using its Suzhou, China plant only to offer some motherboard contract manufacturing services.

The acquired motherboard business and the 'ABIT' brand name are now being used today by USI under the new brand name Universal abit. In the US, it is known as Universal abit USA Corporation. The old company, ABIT Computer Corporation (USA), is now dissolved and is no longer in existence.

Universal Abit has announced that it will close on December 31st, 2008, and officially cease to exist on January 1st, 2009. By 2009, Abit will no longer sell motherboards and may focus on CE field. Warranties will still be handled by Abit for another 3 years or so.

Abit were awesome, still using my ip35 pro, have just put a E 6300 Pentium Dual-Core (2.8@stock) in and went straight to 4ghz, needed latest bios and a few extra volts but running stable, Will probably go Gigabyte next.
