8800GT V 5770

In a very very few games... 260 is faster in 75% of cases.

5770 is around 50-60% faster overall than an 8800GT but due to better shader capabilities can pull ahead even more in some games.

Its GDDR5 with more than 76GB/s bandwidth - should handle 1920x res fine - tho depends how fussy you are on fps.

I'm thinking about doing an Upgrade from my 8800GT OC to a 5770... However 8800GT has the same performance as a 8800 Ultra. But even so, it will be a brilliant upgrade...

I'd look at some other reviews tbh.

Everywhere else the 5770 trades blows or beats the GTX260 about 25-30% of the time and loses by a reasonable margin the rest and the 5750 trails by a fair amount.

These RE5 results also give a good representation of the overall performance difference:

5750 does well tho for the price - the 8800GT is still hanging in there just.

Not really, unless you're looking at low res and 0xaa, otherwise it gets whooped, hard.

Your forgetting one thing...

most of those test results are pulled out a bank of previous reviews - so the GTX260 192SP numbers are from very old drivers... the 5750 is on the latest set... so straight off the bat you don't have a fair comparision - rerun the tests and it would be right behind the other 260.

And in most of those benchmarks the 216SP pulls away by a decent margin when you turn AA on.

Back in the realworld the 5750 would get whupped hard against any recent GTX260 on decent drivers in the game/driver settings that most people are likely to use.

Probably a little bit faster than the old 4870 (512MB) as often the 3rd and 4th cores don't really contribute much.

Probably in some cases the max fps is close to a GTX285 but the min isn't going to be anything like as good.

Thanks or that.

Looked a like a used bargain but if they are only that fast a single 4870 seems better.

5770 looks like the card.

when is the 5830 out?

I think its been delayed to around the same time as Fermi launch but not 100% haven't kept up on that. Pricing looks like its going to be a bit over the odds tho - at a point where it makes more sense to add that extra on to get the 5850.

THink i'll get a 7700 with the option of another down the line.

xfire 5770 is a lot faster than a single EDIT 5850?
