So it's happened to all of us and I'm at uni in halls so I know it's just something I have to accept...

But I'd really like to know who does!

We have locked cupboards and that's fine for dry food however anything you put in the fridge (cheese, milk, butter) will 100% get taken. I've tried putting it in boxers/different containers with my name on/not my name on but whatever I do, it gets taken.

It's not a big deal, it's just annoying! I don't mind lending people food if they ask, it's just that they steal... So what do you reckon the best way for me is to find these food stealers are...

I thought maybe laxatives (this is uni afterall) but I'm not sure how much laxative you need to eat for it to work!

Buying my own mini fridge/moving halls isn't really an option :p

In front of your housemates dip your willy in your milk carton or rub it on your cheese and milk. Only way to stop them pilferers.

laxatives and then camp out by the bog

to be fair the best way in halls/uni accomodation it to all put money into a kitty for buying things like bread/egg/milk. its easily the best way unless one of you is particularly greedy. who wants 7 lots of butter and eggs in their fridge anyway...

Ooo chilli's could be a good idea!

How much laxative do you reckon they have to eat for it to be effective? Is it worth putting on my butter? (I mean obviously this ruins my own chance of eating the food but I reckon it'd be worth it!)

Why's that?
I had one in my room at halls. Not because of food being stolen or anything, just because i had it before i went to uni so decided i may as well take it with me.
You can get small ones for £20 that dont take up much space and can keep your milk, cheese and bacon cool.

Try putting it in actual boxers.

I was under the impression they cost a bit more than that.. for £20 I guess I would consider it!

We're told we arent allowed mini fridges but I guess it depends on the cleaner whether they'll stich you up!

Only 3 Options

1 - Accept it
2 - Don't put food in there
3 - Spike it with stuff - Laxative, Chilli powder, Colouring etc.

Anyway, who has access to your kitchen?

Put it in a tupperware tub and lock it with those suitcase strap locks.

Some sort of invisible dye that reacts with saliva? Theres got to be somethign that will dye their mouth green. . . .

Way i stopped stealing was I just stopped buying food and stole of the people that ahd been stealing mine. Did that for a week and made it clear if they kept stealing i would just eat their food instead. Problem sorted

Well at the moment I do just accept it/try not to buy foods that I need to put in the fridge. I guess colouring would be a good idea too, nobody would like the look of green cheddar...

Well there's 8 people per floor but it's whoever walks into the building really... (there is a security card so only we can get in but you can let friends in etc.)

Dying someones mouth would be great haha, sure way to tell! However I can't think of anything that would...

Some awesome ideas here though haha.

We have the same issue at Brunel. Not allowed fridges in your rooms, probably due to the electricity draw. I would suggest getting a doctor to write a note saying you need to store insulin in it or something. We know when the cleaners are coming so just put it in a cupboard for a couple of hours or something.

There is a few 4 litre mini fridges available for 19.99 (cant link to it on here - but google search for "Mini Fridge White").
4 litres is fairly small. But the website says it will hold 6 standard size coke cans, which would be enough to squeeze in some cheese/butter/milk.
It would probably also be small enough to hide somewhere, in a cupboard or something.
