Good news, it works. If you have alraedy purchased, download from here http://www.alk.eu.com/buynow/eu_download.asp and follow the instructions (extract zip and copy>paste the two folders to the memory card, reboot after install)

This copy will not work as a trial, you need the key for it to work.

I think it is stuck to the official rom as the trial is directly linked with the htc device, the trial is not available to use otherwise and co pilot probably don't want it to be easy to copy and share.

I've yet to fully test the software so won't say its working perfectly, will post back if there are problems.

@ Russ- I've ordered one of those cheap car mount kits, cheers for the heads up :cool:
 
Is that 16gb card the best to go for then?

Would love a 32gb card but they are pricey!

I haven't tried copilot yet but is it any good? I don't know whether to get the tom tom software or not.

Also if I wanted a car kit what sort of thing am I looking at, im pretty clueless about these kits, some just seem to be a holder and thats it. How do you get it so the sound come from the car stereo?

My stereo had an ipod connection which was prety usefull when I had my iphone, is there any way to use my hd2 in the same way?

Sorry to be thick, are you planning to try it on a custom rom or just the official? What are others here doing for SatNav who are using custom roms, your feedback is welcomed :)

Co pilot is good but there is currently no voice directions which is annoying, not sure if any other software have this working yet?

Should do the job ok, something I can keep in the glove box

If your stereo has aux input (3.5mm jack) then you will be able to connct it that way.

You may be able to hook up the storage card via usb cable? This is just a thought though.

I wouldn't bother with a 16gb at the moment personally, you can get a 8gb for £10 or 16gb for £30 which is a bit pricey

@ BA, I'm running the 1.66 dutty rom which has no co pilot trial installed, I had to do the above to download and install it to the device

Thanks for that Lakeland. I have no problem paying for CoPilot but didn't want to lose ability to use it if tied in with the HD2. I do wish they wouldn't do these special deal things, it just makes it complicated when people want to upgrade.

I've just had a look at these on the rainforest site and the reviews are not great. Apparently the charger wont even fit when the phone is in the holder?

It's fine, just file it down with a piece of sandpaper and it'll fit great. Really sturdy unit for mine!
 
Ok I have followed suit. Ordered the holder with charger, a 16gb card, a screen protector and cloth, and a desktop dock.

Can't wait to get it all and then I can start to really play around with it! :D

Doesn't work too well for me via WiFi :/

Edit: Doesn't via my PC either, took 2 minutes to buffer 6% :eek:
