Can boot at 4.6Ghz but temps are crazy. I can run fully stable at 4.2Ghz with 1.23v load in windows.
These are my old settings i used on the f7 bios i think.

try doing that with loadline calibration off... it's worth it considering the potential damage you can do to the cpu.
4.1GHz @ 1.38v (LLC off) - temps max at 76; tried for 4.2, but need over 1.4v to get it stable, and tbh, i don't want to go any higher than that
No matter what i do i just cant get 4.2ghz with my setup, my setup is in my sig ,has anyone achieved this with a similar setup?

just forget 4.2, just be happy with 4.0 ghz ! not much the difference between 4.0 and 4.2

You, like most (including me), are probably limited by how much you can overclock your i7 by the limitations of it's IMC (Internal Memory Controller) and the standard of cooling that you are using.
It should be said that it is not a God-given right to run you CPU at whatever speed you fancy, or at speeds that other people run at. Every chip is different and has different limits - perhaps 4GHz is your i7's limit?
What speed are you running your RAM at for 4GHz? What QPI/VTT voltages are you using? These are the settings I would be looking to decrease and increase respectively in your quest for 4.2GHz.

I have got a Nahelem calc thingy magic which tells you what QPI/VTT should be for a given BLCK frequency but... being honest... I haven't played about yet. I tried 4.2 by only changing Vcore and it froze after 4 mins. Didn't try again because I am happy with my 4GHz and FPS in games. I don't code or anything and only use basic video editing software for fraps
If I manage to get to 4.2 I'd be worried about the long term affects. Do people have ASUS Turbo, which brings up the clock only when needed? I have it switched off and always sat at 4.0GHz now. Get about 38degC core temps with Corsair H50
Well from your posts it seemed to me that it was not so obvious to you. You have admitted that all you have tried to get to 4.2GHz is raise the vCore. This "obviously" hasn't worked because you have ignored QPI/VTT. The key to success when highly overclocking i7 systems is the QPI/VTT voltage and I doubt very much whether a "Nahelem calc thingy magic" will give you any sort of help either.
