500W enough?

Looking to possibly upgrade to a new system soon and looking at an i5 750 alongside a 5850.

Don't plan on adding a second graphics card and it'll be running 2 hdds and a dvd drive, nothing else.

Just wondering if a 500w PSU would be fine for this, I'm assuming so but thought I'd better ask

Dont know what the rest of your system is - otherwise I would have looked for you

You may need to pay $1.99 if you have 3 way SLI or CF - which I doubt

Heh came in well under 500w so alowing for inefficiencies I reckon it'll be fine.

Yep, 500w will be fine.

My i7 setup with crossfire 5850 pulls 480w full load. (cpu & gpu's)

Apart from a stick of RAM and 2 graphics cards updates my current system has lasted 7 years now. And bar some slight annoying slowdown on the only 2 things I seem to play at the moment it's hard to justify the need to change, apart from the fact I want to

I have

2 sata drives, 1 ide, 4 gig ram and a 4850 plus 6 used usb ports all running on a 500w cooler master psu with no problems.

My i7 @ 4.2Ghz and 2x GTX 260 OCs draw 540W on the PSU. So that'll be fine.

I used to have one of those, was quite impressed with it, very good value. Not sure on the efficiency but all the reviews seem to say it's good.

I'm really happy with my 700W modstream if that means anything. Quiet, does the job, modular = good in my books.
