Just before I buy the tyres I'm after a bit of advice/idiot checking.

I need 2 new tyres for my volvo s40 diesel (bring on the flak  ).

I currently have Yokohama S306 on the back axel and have found them very good (including before I swapped over and they were up front).

On the other axel I have Pirelli P6000 and find them very weak in the wet. When they went on the front (tyre swap to *try* to even wear) I could wheel spin in 3rd in the damp

The yokos have died, and the pirellis are still bullet proof, so Im looking to stick these on the back axel:

FK452

Any comments/improvements?

If you can get Kumho KU31's for less than tha F452's then they are also an excellent Mid-Performance budget tyre. Excellent grip in wet and dry on my MR2 so far.

Much better than the crappy Goodyear NCT5's that were on there before.

Bloody hell you guys are quick...

Looks good, so Ill buy tomorrow.

motors is usually the 2nd most popular (in terms of number of people viewing) forum after general discussion. I know you can wait days for a respone in the smaller forums, but this isnt one of them :D

How many of you have actually experienced them? I usually use P Zero's but at £130/corner on a 2.0 TDI became a bit pointless.

I wanted either FK452s or S306, I chose the FK452 but they were out of stock so had to take the S306, my tyre became punctured and I needed the car urgently.

The plus points were price: £95, good dry grip, good tred looking very similar if not better to my PZero Rossos and has good wear on it. The bad points; even after a little bit of 'driving' you can smell the rubber quite badly, wet control is just a bit less than the P Zero.

I will be trying the FK452 next, imo they are decent budget performance tyres.

I had 2 18" FK452s on my VXR before it went, the pair cost me £130 delivered from camskill and I found them to be pretty good, not as good as the previous CS3s, but close - the only trouble I found was that they were a lot louder in terms of road noise.

ive got FK452s on my Focus ST and I rate them much better than the F1s seem to hold better and have faired better against potholes then previous tyres for some reason, might be luck tho.

I stick 280bhp through my 452s and they hold up just fine, did pretty good in the recent snow also. I paid £100 for 225 40 18s last time down to £65 now, must be a lot more popular size.

I was quite surprised how well they faired in the snow for directionals too.

I put 2 FK452's on my Octy vRS a month ago and they have been great.
I've got some Bridgestone RE050A's on the front and they are fine - but in my opinion not worth their high price.

I was surprised at the reviews the Falken's were getting and pleased to see they weren't lying.

These are my go-to tyre. Surprisingly hard to get hold of over in Australia but I had them on the front of my Mondeo TDCi back in the UK and now got a pair on the rear of my Commodore SS - holding up fine and in the dry, whilst I don't struggle to break grip when I want to, they take more abuse than the tyres they replaced (They were a fairly reputable brand - can't remember exactly which though).
