Scared myself silly over the weekend by falling asleep at the wheel. I was in the slow lane and came too half way into the service lane, so probably just out of it for a couple of second...

Lucky escape and a very big lesson learned!

I did this once and hit someone - fortunately they died and there was no witnesses. Made a right mess of my bonnet and couldnt claim on the insurance.

I imagine that's something you just can't predict to happen.

Always better to be safe than sorry, especially when you're driving.

I had a friend recently be very sick from alcohol (all over my lounge...) at 3am, then claiming they were going to drive somewhere at 9.30am - I was rather insistent that this was probably a bad idea.

As long as you drive with one eye shut whilst drunk its quite safe as you wont get double vision. :)

Surely you must know you're not fit to be driving? What could possibly be so important that you simply can't pull up for an hour for a nap? At the very least stop for a coffee or energy drink and drive with the window down, if you're still feeling sleepy after that your just shouldn't be driving. Serisouly, some people just lack in common sense and consideration for other road users.

Yes, I've had this happen to me once -suddenly realise that you're stupidly tired, and services are 10 miles away.

All windows open, slapping yourself in the face until you reach the services for a rest / food

Problem is depth perception will go out the window!
I don't think it was a serious comment :p

What I meant was it's difficult to realise before you get in the car :)
