Although having said that, I'm cancelling my Sky HD as I really don't think the extra resolution makes all that much difference to my viewing pleasure.

You can only bitstream TrueHD audio through HDMI as far as I know, it's also neater on the cables. HDMI is digital audio as well. Why wouldn't you want to use the same cable for both? Fair enough for a PC but everything else is better off with HDMI.

it depends though if you have a surround sound system with an amp then you have to run the hdmi and the audio cables seperate

So long as the cable is certified for a specific level of HDMI, then that's all you need.

Paying more for pixie dust and magical sheathing is just the same as burning money.

Really? I recently upgraded to HD before Christmas. I think its miles better. Movies and sports look so much better.

i go for £10ish area on HDMI cables, anything less then i am worried they will fall apart

The only thing I hate about expensive HDMI cables other than the price is the reviews that spout on about how a more expensive cable provides deeper blacks, better colours, better contrast etc which just simply isn't possible by changing a HDMI cable.

I received this cable the other day and plugged in it. I couldn't believe what I was hearing and feeling. My bowels started to shift and my tummy started to rumble. A few minutes later I made a big doodie all over myself. I can't believe it. This cable saved me from getting colonic irrigation. Wowee!

No you don't, loads of amps support HDMI passthrough and take the audio off HDMI :confused:

Some receivers don't support audio passthrough on the HDMI. It was cut out on some models to save money.

Only if you're completely useless in dealing with jpegs. Set the compression to 0 before you save the image in your paint program.
