Any real difference between the two cpu's - other than the extra 100Mhz clockspeed?

Because £10 is quite a big deal on my budget :p

Cookeh

Hmm, k.
But that £10 could go towards an aftermarket cooler - which I would need to overclock any great deal anyway /:
Man being a student with tiny budgets suck

Gaming, Vegas Pro 9.0, Photoshop CS4 and normal browsing / school work :)

On a similar note, would I notice I huge difference between a Athlon II X2 or a Phenom II X2?
Got about £220 to spend on mobo, ram, cpu and gfx :p :(

get a 550 and an arctic cooling 64 pro cpu cooler. will keep load temps at 3.7GHz to around 37 dgerees :)
you could be lucky and end up with a quad too.

But if it unlocks to Quad the AC 64 Pro will give no headroom for overclocking and you'll probably find yourself pushing 60°C or more. It's fine for dual core though.

I'd say start with stock and if it unlocks get a better cooler.

555 is a newer stepping, tends to overclock more and unlocks more often.

Mine is running at 4ghz (4 cores), but that is with a dual fan corsair H50.
