Fermi delayed till May

I agree there, when we first went into this, all we seen is "Nvidia the way its meant to be played" on games, websites oh the list goes on.

same with intel....yet my first gamer PC was a AMD :p

Athlon XP? they had some good gaming CPUs then.

Wow, you REALLY have an issue with south park don't you?

Has south park wronged you in some terrible way?

Seriously, get a grip Rroff.

You give a lot but when you get it back you have a whinge and start going on about respect, feelings "mean" and what ever else.

Man up and stop acting like a big baby.
To be fair you guys jump him a lot. All he did was say Jigger must have been sodomized by Nvidia (obviously a joke) and you've all turned it to a bitch thread against him :/ Stop saying dumb things like man up as he's hardly crying, anyone who gets annoyed tells the annoying people to shut up or give up or whatever so how did you expect him to react.

Anyway back on topic, the way I read it they're still launching at the same time and just expecting shortages. No way that's out of the ordinary for these kind of cards and considering the problems and it's only a month or two later they should be widely available according to the article. They never said the launch was delayed or anything so it's on target it seems.

yeeah it was I think first ever AMD was some 500Mhz one think it was a athlone (damm spelling -.-)

Ah classic athlon or t-bird then... was using a Pentium 3 then I think the athlon was prolly the wiser buy - I was just put off by what happens if the heatsink fails :D

I prolly should ignore them... but I'm not quite that mature.

No, Charlie (as always) used far too much hyperbole and was far too melodramatic. In that last article (about metal and base respins), Charlie was adamant that it would take a minimum of 6 months (the time it would take to tape out a base-layer respin, taking the silicon to B1) before the architecture could be manufactured in a "fixed" state.

Last time I checked, March > May is 2 months.

If Charlie were to be a little more conservative in his "predictions", and was to only state fact rather than speculation, he might be taken more seriously.

You obviosly didnt read that part correctly.

Hey, most of the time it's in jest. Rroff's the first to have a whinge about "feelings" and people being "mean".

So if he wants to make jokes about people, shouldn't be cut it with those comments?

If he hadn't have a moan about people being mean and hurting people's feelings I wouldn't have said anything.

So you are seriously wanting to personally insult me then ...nice attitude Rroff, get a grip before someone else does...

oh come on.........he implied you had been screwed over by nividia ...you implied he was gay ......the pair of you pack it in...and lets get back on topic.

the original article says that Fermi will be launched before the end of their first quarter with mass production due in the second quarter.

so not really any different than we were told last time Jen-Hsun Huang opened his trap.

Yeah I do have issues with southpark - tho its a bit of a focus for hate because I dislike people who laugh at those less fortunate than themselves and southpark has a lot of that.

 South Park makes fun of everyone, they don't discriminate against those they discriminate.

They make fun of political correctness, I think people who have a moan about it being mean and "laughing at poor unfortunate people" need to stop moaning.

It's only a TV show, you've got to stop relating it to people on here, there's no relevance.

You probably just don't get what it's about. Yes it's offensive, however it's offensiveness is to highlight how absurd things like political correctness is.

"Oh noes them there people said mean things about them there less fortunate peenpuls, theys must be means".

I think what is best for now is stop waiting for fermi, upgrade if need be if not enjoy your games. well its what i m going to do :p

oh wait what good games >_>

who cares if COD4 goes at 120 frame rates and your old GPU is only at 100? its still going to be smooth, still does what you want, more of a brag factor if you ask me :p

Its not southpark itself I have a problem with... its just a lot of people seem to have grown up watching that and similiar stuff and influenced by it... not realising where the discrimination lies between laughing at political correctness and being mean laughing at other peoples expense.

That said IMO southpark is not that funny.

His joke wasn't offensive and he does get poked at outside of this thread by lots of people from what I've seen. All I'm saying is he's made a joke, not even an offensive one and then got plenty of flack. That's not really good conversation on these forums. If he feels offended joining the group against him won't help.

It's not just this thread. Roff can give but he can't take.

Those muscle definition digs were started by me when he was going on about Jen Hsun "taking" "us" in a fight.

I thought it was funny and joked about it, Rroff had a whinge however.

I've seen a lot of people mention that moving from 40 to 28nm would make the G100 suddenly viable. What is it about the 40nm process which is a problem, and why will this issue evaporate with 28nm?

Is it simply a case of lower power consumption and die sizes leading to better yields, or is 40nm just uniquely awful?

Well it's a bit different giving to one and taking from 10. And I'm no Rroff expert so I can't say I've analysed every argument but my opinion is just that he's reacting to being out numbered and being singled out. I don't doubt he may have caused some arguments himself and you guys some but if we just all choose to not get into it rather than telling Rroff alone to not get into it whenever he's called on then it'd work out a bit better.

Don't make me take you :p

The physical die size of the G100 is pretty much borderline to what is viable to produce in substantial yeilds on a 40nm process.
