BC2 BETA... Your thoughts and SCREENSHOTS of it

BF2 was an absolute shambles when it landed, it was riddled with just as many annoying things. So far BC2 feels like a nice step up however.

You've got to swallow the fact that since BF2 and those prior, gaming has become a much bigger industry and isn't confined to acne ridden misfits locked in their bedrooms. Gaming is much more casual and that's something we must live with. Developers and publishers can't afford the niché any more.

At least with BC2 the developers have been very open and receptive thus far. The BETA has been out a month, that's a long time in a developers world and the BETA is probably a much older build in any case. I expect to see some nice improvement for the retail release and probably a day one patch to go with it.

At least the gamer is being acknowledged this time around. EA and Dice were very cagey with BF2 when it landed but couldn't hide due to the games huge popularity.

There's no point going ape over it until one month after release and the first opportunity of a real patch if necessary. It can't be easy creating the perfect balance to appease everyone in a game like this, PC gaming will always be unfair anyway.

No, Raven Shield was the best game ever made THEN BF2 and i'll have no arguments to the contrary :p

Worst thing they ever did to BF2 was disabling squad switching when dead, it really slowed down the gameplay imo - hope they wont do the same to BC2 at a later stage. But in response to some comments above the main reason for releasing Patch 1.50 for BF2 was obviously to drum up support for a new game, it's not like it really needed a patch at that stage anyway.
 
Is it just me, or is the Blackhawk(?) at the end of the map completely useless.

I flew a few people round the action points and they didn't kill anything. :)

It's guns sound better than they are, they could do with a minor buff IMO.

Added to which, it's not so easy to keep them trained on a target when the pilot is banking and turning a lot. Remember the guns point sideways not forwards, so at any one time, you are likely to be preventing one of your gunners from aquiring targets.

I think BC2 owns, cant stop playing it!
I have played all previous battlefield games cept from 2142, and I personally think I like this the best so far, and its only a BETA! Cant wait for the full version, HC all the way!
 
the only thing i realised since the new patch...servers seem to lag...but could be that i went on a cack server.

And yes....they need to make the guns on the big bertha (black hawk) better

Same old Battlefield, same old crap hit detection, empty a full mag at close range and....nothing...then promptly get shot with single bullet to the head...:mad:

The environments are just too chaotic, cant see whats going on or tell friend from foe half the time..:rolleyes:

Might come back to it in a year when its had the patches needed to make it playable.

looks like BF2/FH2 will remain my primary online shooters....

Oh well, roll on BF3......

actually the first release of bf2 is (other that the demo) regarded as one of the best versions, It went down hill from release and one patch was even recalled. bf2 was far from perfect though but it got worse with each subsequent patch.

Look at the amount of patches actually released for either, its terrible and it definately isnt a testament to them, they didnt give a hoot about the community, look at the lack of community features etc each has compared to other games of similar times.
2142s friendslists etc is laughable, both have shocking server browsers, which is criminal concidering they are online only.
I would imagine one of the reasons BF2 had 1.5 patch released was so that they sparked the love for the BF series again before BC2 was released, I got nostalgic when I heard it had been patched and got it downloaded ASAP, didnt last many games but it got me remembering the laugh I had with a mate just mucking about doing silly stuff.
I would have played it a lot more if it didnt have so many problems though, 2142 was such a failure.

Sorry, but a lot of that is a crock of you know what. 2142 plays very nicely and has far far fewer bugs / glitches than bf2. I got 2142 on release and cant say i agree it was released in an atrocious state, not perfect by any means but perfectly playable and damn good fun.

Server browser in 2142 is much better than bf2 & BCBC2. What is your problem with the browser?

Whats so laughable and wrong with the friends list in 2142? Mine works absolutely fine and gives me the info i need.

BF2 patch 1.5 was released as an attempt to remove the facility for hackers to crach servers together with other security fixes plus a few gameplay tewaks. I dont think they did it to promote BC2 as 1.5 was released early 2009 .....

Ultimately, i think you are just another spurned lover of bf2 who didnt like the much referred to 'futuristic' style of 2142. Simple fact is, its a far more polished game that 2. You are simply blind to that fact and instead just want to bash something you dont know about. 2142 = failure as a game itself? I think not, by a long way. On player count alone? perhaps.

I do however agree about the lack of community support however with updates etc. Simple fact is that nothing wil change with BFBC2, after a short period DICE will be onto the next project.

Im bored to tears of this beta, ive tried to play in different ways to see if theres areas i can help identify issues but the whole RUSH game mode is just dull now for me and most of the people i play with. I just hope the narrow maps dont feature accross the board when conquest mode comesto us!

This BC2 (as stated many times before) is an OLD version of the engine and game.

I have a feeling they've patched this old beta version to make it a demo substitute - the client for the retail released will be much more stable and polished as its 'base' is weeks/months in advance of the beta's source...

They where hardly going to release a large patch/update for a beta. I'm actually surprised they even bothered without introducing some of the balances they'd talked about...

My main point for aiming this at peetee - Blizzard have KILLED wow, speak to anyone who's played it since the start (i played final beta till about a year ago) and they'll all tell you the same. It's a casual players game now. With the money Blizz is rolling in from WoW becoming so popular they can easily afford to update and balance/patch as much/often as they like... They do, but not frequently enough - new dungeons are released with bosses which are bugged from the offset and not fixed or beatable for MONTHS.

Dice's communication with their community is a breath of fresh air to me and fills me with confidence and hope. I love this game already, even with its flaws.
