Steam UI Update

Signed up, restarted Steam, downloaded small update, attempted to restart Steam, "Cannot contact the Steam network, please try again later"...

I'd hold off just a little bit for now :).

One guy has reported restarting his PC helped fix that issue.
 
It's about time it got a fresh lick of paint. Hopefully this update will encourage even more publishers to get on board and stop fannying about with their own botched efforts.

Edit: and huzzah for a more prominent Steam achievement list. Peddling these as selling points for Steamworks games and then having them hidden away is pointless. Now you should be able to see your buddies details for easy willy waving!

The library system is a vast vast improvement. Really looks good now. The store also feels a lot snappier: obviously a lot of code optimisation and really working IE rendering engine. Perhaps they moved from IE6 to IE7

EDIT: In fact they have removed the IE screenshot window popup by including it in the store, very nice.

Can't change game shortcut names in the games list for non-steam games :mad:

Just got CTD when I opened the Store too.

The only view that looks decent is the list one, the others have awful icons which make non steam games look like crap and means u gotta scroll loads to see all the games.

Can't say I like it much so far.

So the only reason you dont like it (Well, the only reason you stated) is because you cant see games as you wish which you DIDN'T EVEN PURCHASE USING THE STEAM service?

It had to download loads of little updates for most of my catalogue, but it appears to be working fine, although the left and right arrows seem to be rather confused, I clicked left and the focus went right. hmm..
